Asparagus - just buy what you need:

Don't feel pressured to buy a whole bundle of asparagus just because it is pre-wrapped with an elastic. The price is still worked out by weight, so remove a few spears if you are only shopping for one or two people. When you get the asparagus home, store it upright in a glass with a small amount of water at the bottom.
