Winner and Weekly Giveaway #9

Hello again!

Well, that week certainly disappeared quickly! Sorry for making you wait with bated breath this long, but remote blogging wasn't exactly the piece of cake I thought it'd be. Whatever, I'm back now, so without further ado, congratulations to...

picture-22...number 24, Evelyn! And it looks like Evelyn has lots to commemorate this year.

picture-12Congratulations, Evelyn, and keep an eye on your inbox for an email from me.

And now on to this week's giveaway. School's out and summer's begun in earnest, and if you're like me, you're dreaming of getting away. Wouldn't a week at the cottage feel good right about now? Whether you're living it up out in the great Canadian wilderness or making the most of your local park, I think you'll get a kick out of this week's prize.

I've got a brand-new copy of Backcountry Betty Crafting with Style: Nature-Inspired Projects to give away. This book is jam-packed with projects that are just perfect for lazy summer days, and there are lots of ideas in here that would be great for keeping the kids amused while you're up north. Easy instructions and whimsical illustrations complete the package. Fun!

For your chance to win, leave a comment on this post by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 3, telling me your favourite Canadian vacation destination. I'll choose a winner a week from today. Good luck!

Ooooh, I've had my eye on that book, but can't get it through our library. It would be fantastic to win a copy! :)

  2. Amanda Says:

My favourite destination may not be everyone's idea of a vacation destination, but I spent many happy weekend holidays with my family in Port Elgin on Lake Huron in Ontario. We would go and have dinner at the beach, run around in the sand and the water, feed the seagulls, watch the sunset and then go and star-gaze. You can see so many more stars out there than you can in Toronto :)

  3. Jeannine Says:

    Evelyn, Congratulations.

My favourite Canadian destination so far is Vancouver, BC; however, I really would love to see PEI. If it's possible, I'll try to go there this summer still.

  4. Lorraine Says:

The place my family likes to escape to is on Vancouver Island. Our favourite thing to do is drive up the highway, stop at Cathedral Grove and breathe. Many of the big trees are gone now, lost in some severe storms but the essence of the grove is still beautiful and serene. It leaves you in awe of the age and majesty of these glorious large testaments to time.

  5. Vickie Says:

My favorite vacation destination in Canada would have to be our National Parks. I love outdoors camping and these sites are the best.

  6. Linda Says:

My new favourite vacation destination is Twillingate, Newfoundland. We travelled there for the first time a few weeks ago. We saw icebergs there, stayed at a really homey B&B, and had the best homemade potato chips I've ever tried at Harbourview Restaurant! Not to mention the area is just so scenic!

  7. Mimi Says:

Our favourite vacation destination would have to be our nation's capital "Ottawa" - wish we could be there for Canada Day but I always have to work that first week of July and start my holidays on the week following.

  8. Debbie W Says:

I'm Happy to say today I am spending the day in our our Capital. Happy Birthday Canada. This has been a dream to do this. (It's only a 5 hour drive for me.)
Hubby and I have been making it a point to discover more of Canada, and I have to honestly say, Victoria has a piece of my heart.

  9. Joan Says:

Our favourite vacation place in Canada has got to be Georgian Bay - We look forward all winter long to taking our boat to an isolated anchorage and waking up in the mornings to the call of the loon!

  10. Gina Power Says:

We just spent an extended weekend at Silent Lake Provincial Park, near Bancroft ON. Camping at almost any of Ontario's Provincial Parks is a great family vacation. For a more "civilized" break I think Kingston would be a great place to spend some time exploring.

  11. Psycheknits Says:

My favorite vacation spot in Canada is the Hands Across the Border event with Girl Scouts because it is a great chance to meet all different types of Girl Scouts (there are different names in different locations) and people from different areas. Plus, the food is great!

Five Islands Nova Scotia - highest tides, great walks, cool in the worst summer heat and scenery provided by Glooscap.

Honestly, my favourite place to vacation is a family friend's cottage on Jack Lake, near Apsley, Ontario. It's just a big beautiful and peaceful lake, with a super cute marina that holds parties and regattas all summer long. Our big family of friends has been going there since I was a kid, so it's become a yearly tradition that every one really looks forward to. We have made so many amazing memories there over the years. It's just a really happy place!

  16. Barb Brabant Says:
