Weekly Giveaway #26
Hi friends,
Hope you had a lovely weekend. I finally had some nice quiet crafting time and boy, it was just what I was hoping for (after I finished ripping out and reknitting a certain Christmas present for the third time, at least).
If you're looking for a manageable Christmas project or two to knit, I bet you'll find some sweet inspiration in this week's giveaway: a copy of One More Skein: 30 Quick Projects to Knit, by Leigh Radford. This book is chock-a-block with cute projects, all of which take only one or two skeins of yarn (or perhaps a fun assortment of odds'n'ends from your stash?).
As usual, for your chance to win, leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 1st. This week I'm wondering: are you going to take the Handmade Pledge this holiday season? I will post the winner here sometime on Monday, November 2nd. Good luck!

October 26th, 2009 at 11:51 am
Yes! I know I will be busy, but I will try to do, at least one for each of the person I will have to give this year(8) for Christmas gift this year!
October 26th, 2009 at 12:40 pm
Looks interesting!
October 26th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
One Skein was such a great book -- I'm sure One MORE Skein is just as great!
As usual, I'm making quite a few Christmas gifts this year and most of the gifts that I've bought so far are handmade!
October 26th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
My holiday list this year is short and sweet (the one good thing about being unemployed is not having to do Secret Santa), and all handmade.
October 26th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Just the book for my christmas projects! I can't believe it is almost November and I haven't started any gifts yet! The best I can hope for is a one skein / a gift project for gift giving this year. Gosh I love knitting but hate how long it takes to finish my projects. The need for speed is upon me! 55 knitting days til Christmas!
October 26th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
It seems to be a great book!
Yes, I'm planning some handmade gifts for family. It makes everyone feels special, right?
October 26th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
I'm crocheting a throw at the moment, but would love to take some time out to teach myself to knit. Maybe this book would have simple suggestions to start off with.
October 26th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
I'm trying to hand-make quite a few christmas gifts this year, and I've already started. Some of them are to be mailed around the world, so I've got to hurry!
October 26th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Short projects would be so much more productive than the 5 super projects I have on the go right now. That being said, 8 jars of jam to go before I'm done my handmade christmas (with the exception of immediate family, I'm only half way done them).
October 26th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
This looks interesting. I have a huge stash of yarn that I could use ideas for.
October 26th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
I'd love to win this book as my stash has far outgrown my imagination. I need new ideas quick! I'll be about 50% handmade this year, the rest will be books or event/sports tickets.
October 26th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
Love to knit! Yes, I'm taking the handmade pledge this holiday season. Cheers
October 26th, 2009 at 5:33 pm
I would love to win this book. I will be making some gifts for the Holdays this year- more inspiration is always needed!
October 26th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
i am always looking to make extra gifts with all the extra skeins or balls or hanks of yarn I have from pevious projects. This looks like it might be what I am looking for.
October 26th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Hopefully I'll be able to hand make most, if not all of my presents!
October 26th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
I'm going to take the Homemade pledge and do my best to keep things as homemade as possible.
October 26th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
I love to knit and give things I make as gifts. This sounds like a great book for easy ideas.
October 26th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
I am hoping too!
October 26th, 2009 at 7:29 pm
I would love this book, since I am busy knitting some socks for my sister's family, but other ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!
October 26th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
I just finished organizing my wool stash and really need some ideas!
October 26th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Yum! I'm learning how to knit so this would be great inspiration!
October 26th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
yay more knitting books. i always need more for my library.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
This is a fantastic book! I've already checked it out and want it sooooo much. I have a ton of leftover yarn and am tired of knitting scarves!
October 26th, 2009 at 8:33 pm
I would love to have more knitting ideas.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
I loved Leigh's One Skein! I didn't know she had another. Lord knows I have lots of single skeins laying about in the stash!
October 26th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
I just took the pledge. I know there are some recipients that won't appreciate handmade, but I'm going to make as many gifts as I can.
October 26th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
Well, I'll be making a pledge to try to MAKE as many handmade items, as possible...rather than purchasing them. Although I think it's great to support artists, I am also cheap and poor...so people will be getting things I can make myself. As for me, I'm hoping for lots of books, supplies, and gift cards to help me continue making handmade items!
October 27th, 2009 at 12:23 am
I don't actually know what the homemade pledge is but I am going to try to knit as many gifts this year as possible (for pleasure and for lack of sufficient funds). I would love this book in my collection!
October 27th, 2009 at 1:43 am
:O I love it, I've been wishing for Craft Books so here I am giving this a try... thank you for the opportunity!
October 27th, 2009 at 2:54 am
I won't be taking the pledge but I've already started making things for my family's x-mas gifts. There are some things I need that I can't buy handmade.
October 27th, 2009 at 5:02 am
I haven't made the handmade pledge but do have a house brimmming w/ yarn just waiting to use this book!!
October 27th, 2009 at 6:59 am
With all the random one skiens that I have this would be a good way to use up the stash
October 27th, 2009 at 9:20 am
I always take the handmade pledge!!! Is there another way? I love all things handmade.
October 27th, 2009 at 10:00 am
That would be an awesome book to win and fun to knit projects from it. Each year I try and handmake as many gifts as possible.
October 27th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
I'm definitely taking on the Handmade Pledge this holiday (except for the LEGO present the boys had to have). :> Ds#1 is thinking about trying to make his own LEGOs - still working out the logistics...I think my handmade mantra is rubbing off on the kids!
October 27th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
I'm definitely putting more of an emphasis on handmade (by me or others) this year. I'm working on knitting a pair of socks for my mum, am planning on making greeting cards for family and friends to use and have already finished the jelly and salsa that I'll be giving away.
A couple of non-handmade things will still be bought, however: books, puzzle and gift certs. I've already bought handmade soaps and tapenade at a craft sale.
October 27th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
For a number of years I focused on handmade giving. I use furushiki and cloth gift bags. We have wooden tags that we reuse. We do this for birthdays as well as Christmas. I also try to upcycle as often as possible turning old items into new treasures. That said I have not taken a pledge as I always buy books for every gift giving occasion.
October 27th, 2009 at 4:43 pm
I knit all year round so I always have gifts ready for giving. Last year was socks and this year it is funky scarves. Lots of yarns leftover so new ideas from this book would be FANTASTIC. Making a pledge to do homemade is also a great idea!!!!!!
October 27th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Hi !
I will definitely make an do this year again and family and friend enjoy this, that's sure ! They keep asking for jars of marmalade, biscuits (and recipe !), kintted stuff, handmade handbags and keyrings... And the kids love to help too !
October 27th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
If I do take the pledge it will be Etsy all the way. My crafting hours are too precious this year to waste on anyone but me.
October 27th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
amen
a book i can use for all my children and grandchildren's gifts with all types of new ideas for our church fund raising what a bonus i certainly could use it as soon as possible lol
October 28th, 2009 at 12:00 am
I am trying to get back to making things once again. I did for many years, and shopped for what I didn't make myself at craft fairs. It was a good way to do things, and I hope to do it again. I tried to formally pledge, via the link but it says my name and email has already been entered.....
October 28th, 2009 at 6:28 am
I want to teach my grandchildren to knit and I need to set a good example by getting back to the craft once again.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:01 am
I just learning to knit and this book looks inspirational.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:13 am
I tried the handmade thing one year, but felt that people didn't appreciate all my efforts. I, however do appreciate a handmade gift! The book looks very interesting!
October 28th, 2009 at 10:47 am

I'm knitting my son a sweater for Xmas -- but that's about all I have time for.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:30 pm

I wish I could learn how to knit. I really love knitting but don't know how. Maybe by winning this book I could start doing some knitting this holiday season.
October 28th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Hi ,i have begun to crochet a blanket for my son's girlfriend for christmas to help keep her warm while he is away working this winter I would enjoy reading this book as I am always left over with yarn and not much time !

I love knitting and want to teach my daughter-in-law.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
This would be a book for me because I always knit small projects for those times when I need something to do and don't feel up to quilting just yet. Thanks for the giveaway!
October 28th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
I am in grade 6 and learning to knit in an extra-curricular knitting club at our school and this book would be perfect for our school library. Thank you!
October 28th, 2009 at 9:17 pm
I usually do make a lot of handmade, I did 7 touques for nieces and nephews last year. I'm thinking I might do bags this year, there's a lot of good inspiration out there. Great giveaway!
October 28th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
I'm a beginner so something simple is just what I'm up for at this time. I love to give home made gifts for any occasion!
October 28th, 2009 at 11:13 pm
I have finished a sweater for our youngest son and will be starting the one for the oldest tomorrow.
Have plans to start a few sewing projects as gifts within the next week or two as well.
The knitting book would be a wonderful addition to my collection of books.
October 29th, 2009 at 10:17 am
I have just started knitting again after a long spell of not doing any and this book looks great. I bet I could make some nice Christmas gifts for my family.
October 29th, 2009 at 11:14 am
Yes I'm going to take the handmade pledge, this is my second year! Yay!
October 29th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
I love knitting. I was even thinking about knitting christmas presents for my few friends at work. I will definitely treasure this book as a keepsake.

Yes, I promise to buy handmade for me and my family this year!
October 30th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
just teaching myself to knit. This might be the ticket.

:o)
October 31st, 2009 at 11:51 am
Yes, I'm going to attempt this for the first time ever. I'm a wee bit nervous though.
November 1st, 2009 at 12:18 am
Guerilla knitting is now fashionable!
November 1st, 2009 at 2:05 am
......and how many dishcloths can one person give away?? I think the book of new ideas will be fabulous for me and my gift recipients!
November 1st, 2009 at 5:47 am
It has been some time since I have knit, and have been itching to do it again. This book would be just the thing to get me back in the groove. We try hard to put a personal touch on Christmas and this would be a marvelous way.
November 1st, 2009 at 10:46 am
What a great giveaway!
I make handmade gifts all year round, I'm lucky to have a family that appreciate them.
With this time of the year being so busy, it's great to have ideas for one skein projects.
November 1st, 2009 at 2:16 pm
This book would be so great for me, considering pretty much all of my projects are one skein!
I knit for others, but not for holiday gifts. I don't have the money for yarn and I find that putting a deadline on my crafting sort of ruins my enjoyment of it.
November 1st, 2009 at 2:38 pm
I'm really going to try.
November 1st, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Neat-o! This inspires me to be more crafty.
November 2nd, 2009 at 12:13 am
I've just taught myself how to knit and I'm hooked!! I like small projects with quick results...I'm not yet ready to tackle a big sweater!
November 2nd, 2009 at 12:21 am
Please enter me. I am definantly taking the handmade pledge. Gifting doesn't get any better than this.
I'd like to knit alot more barbie doll clothes.
November 2nd, 2009 at 12:43 am
I plan on recieving knitted gifts this xmas. My daughter has learned to knit and has measured everyones heads!! She would love to have a book.
