Here's one: (old Irish proverb)"You'll never plow a field by turning it over in your mind."

  2. Lorraine Says:

As you make your bed, so you must lie upon it.

Though I never add the "upon it" part when I say it :) Consequences, got to love that one ;)

  3. Laura Says:

A merry heart does good like a medicine.

  4. Pat Says:

One that would reflect the stitches in a quilt is: A chain is only as strong as its weakest link

  5. Pat Says:

OR "A stitch in time saves nine"

  6. Jeannine Says:

    Here are a few more:

    "All things must pass"

"Don't cross the bridge until you come to it"

"Hard work never did anyone any harm"

    "Where there's a will there's a way"

"You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"

    "Time is a great healer"

I like these! Thanks! I was also thinking that "To sleep, perchance to dream" (from Hamlet) might be a good one.

  8. Lori Says:

My grandmother would always say..."Its just as easy to love a rich man as it is a poor man!" Be choosy girls!(I recently saw it on a mug and had to buy it).

  9. Cookie Says:

love many, trust few, always paddle your own canoe.

  10. Lindyl Says:

A stitch in time saves nine.
    Measure twice, cut once.

  11. Laura Says:

I don't remember where I read this, but I know I have a cross-stitch pattern for it somewhere:

"Blessed are the piecemakers' children, for they shall inherit the quilts."

And yes, "piecemakers" is deliberately spelled that way.

This is ripped from a great swedish stitcher:
"I sublimate my rage into needlepoint" , substitute "needlepoint" with "patchwork". Not a proverb but so fab.
