Another crafty Christmas wishlist

Last Monday, Austen shared her list of the craft items she'd love to find under the Christmas tree. This week, it's my turn. While I'd love to receive any of our  crafty gift guide items wrapped in pretty paper, I thought I might go for broke and take the fantasy aspect of making a wishlist seriously. Why not do it to the max? First, if Santa's budget were limitless, how about a nice Canadian-made Lendrum portable spinning wheel? Now that knitting is a big part of my day-to-day life, I'd love to learn how to turn raw wool into yarn. And I love a good gadget – though I'm not quite sure where it would live in my crowded craft room. Image, Yarn.com I get obsessive when I'm learning a new craft, and I like to read everything I can get my hands on about it. Spinning Wool: Beyond the Basics by Anne Field looks like just the kind of in-depth reference I'd pore over with a cup of tea. If I'm spinning, I'll need some really nice roving, of course. How about some 100% wool Louet Northern Lights in Grape Jelly? It looks like a moonlit winter's night, doesn't it? Image, Yarn.com I'm a sucker for anything-of-the-month clubs (even fruit-of-the-month ones). But how about a nice fabric-of-the-month delivery? I love Kona Cotton, and the Kona Club from Sew Sisters delivers four half-yards to your mailbox every 30 days. Ever since my ESL teaching days in Kyoto, Japanese paper has fascinated me. I'd love to make the pretty bookmarks in the Shiori Ningyo Doll Bookmark Kit from The Paper Place in Toronto. They would be relaxing to fold quietly in that wonderful, peaceful week between Christmas and New Year's. Image, The Paper Place Finally, I love vintage advertising posters. (I know, it's trendy now – me and everyone else in the universe.) But this reproduction WWI Knit Your Bit poster is the best intersection of nostalgia and crafting that I've seen. I think it would look great up above my sewing table, don't you? Image, Amazon.ca So what craft items would you ask for if Santa had deep pockets?
