Update: Leaf Pattern Templates Available Here

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Hi friends,

I'm encouraged by your positive response to the idea of putting craft templates online (see Monday's post – and enter the contest to win the craft kit!). Some of you have mentioned that you're having trouble finding the templates for the "Bring the Leaf Motif to the Table" article online, and the web team is working on that right now find them here.

You can also download them right here:

  • **Please open these files in Adobe and print them from there to ensure you're getting the proper size image.**

Two notes:

1) If you don't have access to a printer, we'd be happy to mail the templates to you.

2) I'd like to make this pattern the subject of the first Great Results Roundup. If you make any of these projects, email me a photo and I'll feature it in a special blog post after Thanksgiving!

Great results: Evelyn's scrapbook

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Hello!

I love it when you write in to share your crafty successes with me; doubly so when you've made something using a prize you won in a Make+Do giveaway. So you can imagine how pleased I was to find an email from Evelyn (winner of Giveaway #8) in my inbox this morning.

In her contest entry, Evelyn said she'd use the scrapbooking-related prize to document her twin sons' first year of school. Now, she writes:

I've completed a couple pages of the documentation of passing kindergarten for my twin boys. I've used some of the paper from the prize that you sent out to me!! They brought home so much great art this year but its impossible to keep it all so I got this great idea from Scrapbooks Etc. magazine. It was hard just picking out the best 12 pieces! Anyways, here's a couple pics!

Are you a Make+Do prize winner? Have you made something with your winnings? E-mail me and I'll post your great results on the blog. And don't forget to enter this week's contest! Have a great day.

Great Results: Tarryl's Shaving Kit

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Hi there,

I just love it when readers write in to tell me about something they've made using a pattern from Canadian Living.Today, let's have a look at the shaving kit that reader Tarryl Brown made for her finacé, using the instructions from the His'n'Hers Travel Mates that appeared in the May issue. Tarryl writes:

"I love your magazine!  You always have great craft ideas, but I never take the time to try them!  I saw this pattern for a shaving kit in May 2009, and decided that it was time!  My fiancé needed a new shaving kit, and I found a piece of camoflauge canvas that worked perfectly!  I've been looking all over for a new shaving kit for him, but didn't find anything that I liked!  He loves it!  Thank you so much for the pattern!"

Tarryl, I'm glad that you liked the pattern - and that your fiancé likes his new shaving kit. It looks great!

Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday. Cheers!

Great Results: Sheila's First Quilt

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Hello!

Just  a quick note today, but I wanted to share this with you. I was delighted to find an email from Sheila Gehrke,  of High River, Alberta, in my inbox the other day. Sheila writes:

"I am sending you a picture of the quilt I made from the Jan/Feb 1978 issue I purchased when it was only  available on the newsstand. I had collected all the fabric and when I  retired it was my first project to do and now I am an avid quilter. I  completed it in January 2001...Quilting has become a great passion for me and I find it such a relaxation in this busy world that we are now in."
