2 easy & sustainable fish recipes, just for the halibut...

....and for the cod. I've stayed away from halibut and cod for years fearing their demise in our Atlantic ocean, and also fearing improperly labeled "sustainable" options at the fish counter. (Yes, I'm a fish hugger.)

In 2009 I heard Loblaw's grocery stores have partnered with the Marine Stewardship Council and WWF-Canada to launch their Sustainable Seafood Commitment. Last week I heard Loblaw's are now selling MSC-certified fish at their fresh fish counters in the GTA - and across Canada in coming months! When Loblaw's invited me to watch a cooking lesson made with MSC-certified fresh halibut and fresh cod, I said YES! What is MSC? [/caption] The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is a global organization looking after our oceans by recognizing sustainable fisheries and seafood companies. They have a rigorous certification process involving scientists, conservation groups and the public to ensure consumers are making the right choice. Look for the logo! Look how big and luscious these meaty fillets are.
