The study, published in the November issue of the journal Flavour, says that the contrast between the dark coffee and the white mug leads us to perceive coffee as more intense. While drinking from a blue mug makes us think coffee tastes sweeter. If you like your coffee bold and bitter, white mugs may be the way to get the most intense flavour. While those with a bit of a sweet tooth should go for blue. The study supports the idea that can be influenced not only by the colour of food, but by the colours surrounding it when served.
