FilterForGood winner and a yummy chocolate giveaway!

Congratulations to Ben who is the proud owner of a FilterForGood prize pack. Ben has won:

• Brita Pitcher Water Filtration System (Grand model – 10 glass capacity)
• 3-pack of Brita Pitcher Replacement Filters
• FilterForGood reusable, BPA-free water bottle

I asked you all what you do to conserve water in your homes and I got some great tips and ideas. Ben said:

"We insulate our water pipes. It’s easy and inexpensive to do. Use a pre-slit foam around the pipes. You’ll get hot water faster plus avoid wasting water while it heats up. Until we have enough money to buy a low flush toilet, we use a toilet tank displacement device in our toilet tank so that less water is used when the toilet is flushed."

Yummy yummy chocolate!

Chocolate is my comfort food, it always helps me when I am down and sad and the same goes if I am happy and want to celebrate. I serve it if I have guests over or if I am by myself watching a movie. I have to confess I love love love chocolate.

  2. Huguette Says:

  3. Jeannine Says:

Yum, chocolate! Congratulations Ben. I can't go too long without chocolate!

  4. Carla Says:

Stop myself from going back to the cupboard for another piece? I don't think that would be possible, chocolate would never even make it to the cupboard here - it usually doesn't even make it out of the store, I've already devoured it before they can even count back my change.

I made hand dipped truffles for Christmas 2 years ago, about 500 or so. I gave away 2 dozen. I ate the rest.

  5. Aoife Says:

I love chocolate so much I could add it to every meal without even trying....nuttela spread on toast for breakfast, chocolate dipped strawberries with lunch, a chocolate bar as a snack and a hot chocolate before bed! Now tell me you are not reading the post of a chocolate addict??? I would love to try this Green & Black’s prize pack as I have not yet tasted it and it sounds wonderful!

  6. Haylie Says:

I have 2 young kids and I try hard to give them a balanced diet. I'm teaching my 4 yr old that chocolate is to be savoured and eaten sparingly. We've been enjoying some mummy/daughter special moments including chocolate and a nice tall glass of milk that daddy and little brother can't share with us.

Chocolate means to me quiet afternoons spent with my daughter hopefully giving her memories she'll keep with her forever.

  7. Anna Gregory Says:

I don't crave chocolate all the time...but when I do...it has to be smooth..it has to be rich and it has to be NOW!!

    Great contest!!

  8. Debra Bashford Says:

I don't buy it, if it is in the house, it calls to me and it's all I can think about until I have snarfed it down, so this is the extreme I have to go through to protect it. I only buy it once in a while and only a small amount for it's safety and my sanity.

  9. peggy smith Says:

i don't ever remember not loving chocolate or when i became a dark chocolate enthusiast. i used to joke that i ate chocolate because it contained iron. now that we know about anti-oxidants, who wouldn't eat chocolate? after all, isn't it one of canada's food groups - essential eating every day!

  10. Rose Says:

A great cup of coffee and a piece of amazing chocolate......bliss! Even when life hands you a curve ball and even when life is NOT fair!!!! A piece of great chocolate is a piece of happiness. There is definately a reason why it was called the food of Gods and why it was worth it's weight in gold when it was first discovered by the Spanish....
    Happy Chocolate to you too!

  11. ikkinlala Says:

I love it. It's a way to treat myself or cheer myself up. It works equally well in impressive desserts or in comfort food. If I have some in the cupboard, I can leave it alone... but I don't like to.

  12. Jackie Says:

Chocolate means that I've found a moment of peace and quiet amidst the CHAOS that is being a Mommy of a baby and a toddler. I like to take a chocolate bar (preferably one with little squares) and sit somewhere quiet for a few minutes to savour it one slowly melting piece at a time. It gives me a moment to myself to indulge - and yes, a sugar rush, too! It helps me get over those super tired new Mommy moments.

  13. Londia Says:

I do love chocolate. My Husband and i are surprised that i have not dug into the Easter chocolate yet. I guess we will see on Easter if i eat the kids chocolate.

My love affair with chocolate began when I was a child in England - I have vivid memories of the chocolate. I now have a chocolate cupboard which is in order by expiry date. One year at Easter I was working alone in the office and put Easter mini eggs on everyone's desk, but the chocolate called me so I went around and took one of each desk. Then the chocolate called me again, and again.... until I decided there weren't enough left on the desks, and took them all back and ate them. I eat chocolate every day - sometimes just a bit but always some.

I adore dark chocolate! The milk chocolate, I can take or leave, but dark chocolate is a regular craving for me (like potato chips). I find that since I entered my 50s, gaining weight has become a big issue, so to help me still get a hit of dark every day, without overindulging, we buy big bars of chocolate, break them into smaller pieces, and put them in a ziploc bag in the fridge. I go in there and get one big or two small chunks and have it with my coffee. Back to the chips--here's a tip for all you dark chocolate and potato chips lovers--Next time you melt some, dip a chip into it and prepare to be amazed at the flavour combo! Really, try it!!

  29. Rosita Says:

Chocolate is my yin to my yang, the sweet to my sour... it is my best friend and vice. I have made it part of my life ever since I outgrew my chocolate allergy (depressing, I know!). In desperate times, I admit to raiding the baking cupboard for chocolate chips! I guess I have an addiction to that endorphin rush... In fact, all this thinking about chocolate is making me crave it!

  41. Melanie McLaughlin Says:

Chocolate is .......... how can you describe something so wonderful. It's good as a treat, great in cookies and squares, delicious on strawberries. We use it to celebrate just about every holiday, Easter Bunny, Chocolate filled hearts, in Chirstmas baking and what Trick or Treat bag isn't full of bite size treats. Dark, or milk, solid or with nuts, covering fruit or in a tall glass of cold milk. Excuse me... I need to go to the store!!!!!!!CHOOOCOOLATEEE

  42. Lorraine Says:

Chocolate is my melty, sugary comfort food. How did humans ever live without it? I have a love-hate relationship with Chocolate all through my life. I loved and love Chocolate ever since my parents put that first sweet brown morsel in my mouth. Since then, I was hooked and had fallen in love with Chocolate. My favourite foods have evovled around chocolate starting from chocolate ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake, hot chocolate, chocolate milk shakes. And as I grew to be an adult, my tastes became a bit sophisticated but still revolved aroud Chocolate like chocolate almonds, chocolate cranberries, chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache covered cakes, white chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate volcano cakes, chocolate in savoury cooking, and chocolate fondues (...most recently discovered - Wow!). As you can see, I love anything chocolate. I know eating too much of it is not healthy for you and your waistline, and I hate myself for eating too much of it, especially around Christmas, Holloween, Valentine's Day and Easter when the chocolate treats are so tempting and delicious. But in between these holidays, I get cravings for chocolate, because I want the nostalgia and comfort back of being a kid again and eating Chocolate without any guilt, because it was a treat and it tastes good.
