You all have been leaving amazing answers on my Green Heroes post. I'm so happy you all have such great influences in your lives, to encourage you to go green. Check out my post and leave a message telling us about your green hero for a chance to win some great books!
So, you know your trusted Air Miles card. The one you pull out when you're at the LCBO (my secret's out!) or when you're grocery shopping at Metro? Well, I just learned that they have launched a new program called Air Miles My Planet, a program that helps Air Miles' collectors live greener and save money by allowing you to use your Miles to purchase products that will help you live a greener lifestyle (like a transit pass, eco luggage, or a donation to WWF-Canada). What a great program!
In order to promote the new and wonderful Air Miles My Planet, they've generously given my five Air Miles Cards worth 1,000 points to use toward any of the My Planet rewards. I would spend 725 reward miles on the Organic Indulgence Set or pair up with 100 of my existing points and get the 100 per cent organic cotton sheet set.
In order for you to win, I want you to tell me about your dream vacation! Seeing as Air Miles always reminds me of travelling, I think it's a perfect fit. The best five answers will win an Air Miles My Planet Card worth 1,000 points. Remember, you have to be a subscriber to win, so don't forget to subscribe to my blog today. I'll announce the winners here next Friday, May 15.
Happy weekend!

You are so right, what a great program. My dream vacation, might sound strange to some but means the world to me. All I wish for is to go visit my three beautiful granddaughters that lives 10 hours away. I would love to spend some quality time with them and get to know them better. Since I am never there for their birthdays and other special events, I could make up for it by coming for a visit.

My dream vacation would be to go to Alice Springs, Australia. Ever since I was a little girl and saw the movie 'A town like Alice' based on the Neville Shute story "The Legacy", I have wanted to see what Alice Springs was like. Ayers Rock is one of those sights that I need to see before I die. When I saw a picture of it, I was drawn to it in a way I can't explain. Once I've been there and experienced it, I'd travel to Darwin and then over to the Gold Coast and end in Melbourne to meet the side of the family that I've never seen. I don't know if I will ever make it, as it's far and I've two little ones that wouldn't travel well for that long, but I've dreamed about it since I was about 10. Maybe some day. It's not a green trip, but if I got there, I'd make it worth the travel and find ways to make up for that long flight.

My dream vacation would be for me and my husband of 30 years to go to Hawaii. On our first Anniversary my husband had decided to surprise me and he bought tickets to Hawaii as we lived in Prince Rupert at the time. His mom and dad wanted us to come home to NS for their 25th Wedding anniversary so Rickey changed the tickets to NS instead and didn't even tell me about it until a few years later.

My dream would be to travel to Africa, i want to work to help the people of Africa but in order to do that you have to have experience. And the only way to get that experience is to do volunteer work there. Which i would love to do but can't afford the airfare.

I'd love to go to Italy. I've always thought that would be such a romantic and interesting destination. Venice and Rome are on my must-see list! One day, maybe

This is a hard question! I would love to visit the Galapagos Islands for sure. There are lots of places in Europe I would love to see as well. However, there are so many amazing places right here in Canada that I would be tempted to pack my back up on a train to travel across the country, biking through cities and towns we travel through. Biking in PEI, Quebec City, Ottawa, and out west sounds very appealing!

My dream vacation would be to visit Banff and Lake Louise and see nature's beauty including the majestic mountains, the wild animals, and the pristine aquamarine glacial lakes. I believe that area is the most pristine and natural region of Canada that has been well maintained as wild and natural as possible; and yet, allow people to see and treasure in awe at such beautiful surroundings.

My dream vacation would be to go to Italy to visit my parents birthplace so I can better understand and visualize their wonderful stories!

Good program. Reminded me that I need to use my miles. Been working so hard, haven't had time.

Wow. This is a tough one, because I describe myself more of an explorer, but to answer the question I would say a road trip through the Canadian Rockies. I only know them through images from magazines and the internet, and would love to discover them for myself. Canada's natural beauty is very unique, and exquisite.

My dream vacation would be go to to Africa and do an eco safari adventure. I think the most amazing way to see how you live your life and how you can do better for yourself, others around you and the planet, is to go and visit/see other cultures. The experience of being able to see how other people live and what they do is something that, although are great tools, you can't see from watching documentaries and researching on the internet.

Hi,
Being an open water swimmer, i.e. I participate in swimming competitions that are either held in a river, lake , ocean etc., I would love to spend a year travelling across Canada and doing as many swims as possible. These would include the first polar dip of the year and than fly across Canada to BC to do the last polar dip of the New Year.

Right now my dream vacation would be to bring my daughter to our friend's wedding in Paris. Since it's this weekend I guess it's time to move on to my next dream - to go to a luxury retreat in Asia for at least one month.

My dream vacation would be going to Costa Rica. I would want to experience the natural beauty of the world. By going to Costa Rica I could spend time with the endangered sea turtles, experience nature’s unspoiled beauty and even take a boat excursion to view water creatures. Then I would want to dip my feet in the warm waters of a thermal hot spring, enjoy nature tours, and climb into the misty air from mountains found in Costa Rica. Best of all I would want to spend some time helping local’s plant trees and assist some of nature’s most vulnerable creatures. This would be the vacation of the life time!!
May 14th, 2009 at 5:38 pm
My dream vacation would be visiting the arctic. I would love to see how the Inuit live on a day to day basis. I would also want to see some of nature’s most fascinating animals. Some of these animals include the polar bear, walrus, penguin, and belugas. Animals are nature’s most fascinating creatures and I would love to be able to experience them for myself. With global warming their numbers will decrease, but I want to be able to see them and spread the word to my friends about these creatures and why they should do their part to reduce climate change.

My dream vacation would be to travel with my father to explore and see the place where he and my late mother were born and raised, the beautiful country of China.
I've heard some stories from my father, who is now in his 80s, about what it was like to grow up there and about the continuing hardships of those who live there today. It's really amazing when I think of the tough journey that brought my grandfather and his family to Canada. My father tells me that my grandfather worked extremely hard to come to this country so his family could have a better life. I am happy to say that he succeeded.
To appreciate our own personal history, I think each person should visit the country of their ancestry at least once in their life. That is why a trip to China with my father would be my dream trip.

I have had my dream vacation......with family and friends on a large yacht on the Amalfi Coast under blue skies and in even bluer water. We spent the days in picture-perfect locations, from Portofino to Capri, and sailed at night. The company, the weather, the locations, the food......everything was amazing: so "pinch-me-perfect" that it seemed like a dream and I'd love to do it all again to confirm that it really did happen.

I would like to take my family of four on an all-inclusive vacation to a very warm sun destination (not Mexico) next winter. We suffered through a terrible two-month transit strike this past winter. My kids could enjoy the beach, and my wife and I could relax and enjoy good weather, good food and, hopefully, good wine.

My dream vacation would be to bike through Europe.
Austria, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland.... I would follow all the bike pathways and highways the locals do and I would absorb and enjoy every little bit of the country side, the history and their culture at a lovely age old slowwww pace....

My dream vacation would start with a flight from Toronto to Vancouver. I've never been to Vancouver, so I would spend a day or two sight seeing, hiking & visiting shops. Since it's my dream vacation, I'd also do a couple hours (or days!) in a train traveling around the Rocky's ;). From there my boyfriend & family would board a cruise ship for a week long Alaskan cruise. During the land stops in the cruise, I'd like to walk in the footsteps of Klondike gold rush prospectors in Skagway, experience the living culture of southeast Alaska Natives & search for bears and whales. Being near the ocean is an absolute great feeling, I've only been twice in my life and can't wait to go back. Hopefully the next time I go it will end up being my dream vacation for the Alaskan cruise.

There are so many places to go, how to decide? I think my first trip would be out to Alberta this December as my husband's grandmother will be turning 100 and we haven't seen her in about 4 years. I would love to show up on her doorstep on her birthday. Surprise Nana Gene!!!

i know it sounds rather crazy to fly around the world so that you can walk, but my dream vacation would be to fly to new zealand and hike one or more of their many amazing hiking trails. and while i am dreaming, i would also take advantage of being in new zealand and go on an eco-tour to antarctica! the flying part is not so green, but the rest: yes!

I am from the US and have traveled there enough. I want to enjoy all of Canada. A cross country road trip with my family would be pretty amazing!

My dream is to vist the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru, where I would read Pablo Neruda's brilliant poetry about that wondrous place in an attempt to fully appreciate my surroundings and the literature inspired by them.

My dream vacation would be a trip to Cambodia to see my brother and his family as they moved there a few years ago and we miss them terribly.
May 15th, 2009 at 10:55 am
I would love to explore the mysterious and spiritual land of Peru. The photos I've seen of Machu Picchu are absolutely awe inspiring and magical. I can't imagine what being there would be like.

My dream vacation would involve a trip to Italy for my entire family. I would like to have an air conditioned place to stay, and an itinerary that allowed us to take a leisurely pace. I would love to tour vineyards, historic sites, shop, and eat my way through Italy. Perhaps even a trip out on a fishing boat!
