Showing off produce from my mini garden

I'm sure your all starting to enjoy the first vegetables from your garden. On Sunday for Father's Day I picked a some mixed greens, rocket lettuce and radishes to make a delicious post-dinner salad for my dad and other company. I've been dying to taste fresh, tender Ontario lettuce all winter, and there I was savouring lettuce from my own back porch. It's led me to one conclusion: Summer is grand!

Delicious back porch goodness! I can't wait for my green onions, carrots and tomatoes ...

mmmm, the best thing is that it's fresh....don't you just love the feeling of stepping out into your backyard and discovering what's there to be used up in your dinner?

We've had one strawberry and a bunch of radishes, as well as green onions. I can't wait for the cherry tomatoes!

I have a little bowl of strawberries so far and rhubarb. Oh my, we have rhubarb, lol. It's a huge plant and it's taking over the veggie patch. I've shared a lot and enjoyed an apple rhubarb pie, too. My radishes, well we got two and I've replanted them. You need to keep them evenly moist, and I forgot to water, lol. But things are a growing and I have one lettuce coming up, some carrots and will soon have more. The little row of peas is growing... soon we'll enjoy a bit more yummy eats.

Your radishes are very pretty by the way - I love the two tones in them - makes you want to crunch them up!

sounds like we are all enjoying rhubarb and strawberries - unfortunately for us, our neighbourhood chipmunks are enjoying our strawberries more than we are! we also have chives and green onions. i need to try planting lettuce again - my first lot didn't come up. i, too, look forward to fresh tomatoes from the garden - roma to freeze, cherry for salads and beefsteak for burgers and sandwiches!

The cooler spring has been good to my lettuce, which I mainly grow in my pots. I have been able to harvest lettuce every day for about a week and a half now. I have started some more in pots as they are easy to grow in pots without any bugs eating it. I am anticipating peas and herbs next and hopefully cherry tomatoes.
