Shopping in style

Reusable? Check! Durable? Check! Stylish? Double check!
We certainly aren't short of reusable bags these days. Sold at every check-out counter, anyone can have a bag with their grocery store's logo on it. Though we all want to be eco-conscious, for some of us it's important to look stylish at the same time.
I recently discovered b.b. begonia's reusable shopping bags and am delighted by them. Not only are they eco-friendly, they're also fun, pretty and super convenient. My favourite feature is that you can roll them up into a small package (a little smaller than the palm of your hand) when you're not using them, so they fit perfectly into small spaces (like a purse!). If you put one in all your hand bags, you'll never be caught at the farmer's market without a reusable bag again.
Want to know my other favourite thing about these bags? b.b. begonia is a Canadian-based company.
Aside from buying individual bags, you can also purchase a pack of five, which I think makes a beautiful and useful gift.
b.b. begonia bags are available in many retail stores.

I have a similar bag (different print) that I was given some time ago, I love it and it fits perfectly in my purse. I carry a good quantity of canvas bags in my trunk so that if I ever go grocery shopping without planning it, I always have bags with me.

If you're looking for pouch bags, I found Poksaks are the way to go. The stuff right into it's own pouch and are very durable. I always have my poksak when I'm at the farmer's market or grocery store.

I love idea and use reusable bags. However, it would be great to find a company that does not have their bags manufactured in China. Anyone know of a company that manufactures local?

I also love Moukisac bags - another Canadian company - they make a great grocery bag set that comes with mesh bags for produce! I have people ask me about the bags all the time when I'm grocery shopping. They're great!

I just read a post on another blog site about the crunch that the plastics industry is feeling; created by all our cloth bag use. Way to go! My mother used to make me take cloth bags to get groceries for her when I was a little girl and I remember hiding them and being laughed at on my way home. Little did I know she was a pioneer for a trend 20 years later.
