For a chance to WIN a Palm Pre, tell us who you would like to reconnect with

Yes! You could WIN one!

Yes! You could WIN one!

Maintaining an active social life keeps you feeling young. Staying connected with friends and family is an important way to keep active and healthy.

And these days, we have more ways to stay connected than ever before. Whether you're calling your friends and family, texting them, sending them a quick e-mail, connecting with them on Facebook or even following them on Twitter, there are a lot of ways to touch base with the people who matter most to you.

Who would you most like to reconnect with? Maybe it's a sibling you don't talk to as much as you'd like to. Maybe it's a high school friend you've lost touch with. Perhaps you'd like to be closer to your grown children. Or maybe you long to be reconnected with a long-lost love.

For a chance to WIN a Palm Pre™ smart phone, just Subscribe To This Blog and post a reply telling us about who you'd like to reconnect with and why. The Palm Pre™ is valued at $149.95 on a three-year contract or $599.95 without a contract with a minimum 500 MB data plan. You have until Monday, December 7 to let us know. I'll announce the winner here on Tuesday, December 8.

I can tell you from first-hand experience that these Palm Pre™ smart phones are super-fab. The Palm folks let me try one out and suddenly my husband and I were e-mailing each other constantly while he was out-of-town on business. Plus, I developed a closer bond with my sister-in-law, who's a rampant texter.

If I could reconnect with anyone, it would be my folks. Even though we talk on the phone almost daily, if I could get them using a smart phone like this, we could also text each other, e-mail each other more often and instantly exchange photos. What fun!

  3. Kim Says:

I would like to reconnect with my husband. We've been married for 5 years and in that time we've had three kids. We have a 4 year old, a 2.5 yr. old and a 6 month old. Life is a little bit (who am I kidding, it's a lot more) crazy and it's gotten harder to have a conversation. We used to fire emails back and forth all day long, but now I barely make it onto the computer. Maybe a new phone would help us keep in touch better during the day when he's at work and I'm at the park with the kids. It would only work though if I made sure that it didn't get flushed down the toilet. It seems everything ends up in the toilet somehow. Maybe we should try reconnecting there?

I grew up in Hamilton Ontario and my parents decided over the summer of '93 (i was going into high school) that we were moving to the Kingston area. I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to my friends and most of my family. I am still in this area and a single mom working two jobs so it is very hard to find the time to stay connected with the people we left behind.

  7. Irene Says:

I would love to reconnect with my grade 4 teacher, Mr. Brown. He really inspired me to learn and to cope with a new English speaking culture. If I could, I wish I could tell him thank you for being a great teacher to me, and that I turned out all right!

I'd like to reconnect with my ex-friend Paul. We became fast friends, like my brother from another mother. We got into an argument over something really stupid, angry words were said and we parted ways.

I did send him an apology letter for the things I said, but he never responded.

Probably one of the biggest regrets of my life.

My wife's PARENTS!! We see them twice a year for a couple of hours and phone several times a week. They are still living in the 1970's...no computer, no cell, no cable, no dishwasher, a tv from 1978 that gets 2 channels. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. I know they'd love it once they give it a shot. I'd give the Palm Pre to them so that they could email us (our 8 yr old daughter always has something to say!) and get them on Facebook so that they could keep in touch with my wife's aunt & uncle who are both ill and have constant updates on their conditions. Please help me bring my inlaws into the 2000's!!

  21. Jordan Law Says:

I would love to re-connect with my sister. Even though she is my half sister I always felt a special bond with her. Over the years we drifted apart and the fact that she lives in another province sure didn't help. If I could just be able to communicate with her more I know we could re-ignite that special bond that seams so lost in time.

Besides that I would try to reconnect with my moms side of the family. My family lost touch with them due to my fathers depression over tragedies that kept happening to our family. Now that I'm an adult I feel its my duty to reconnect with what little family I have left. Am I going to win something, because if not, this is baloney. Sandwiches!

  69. Kelly Hutchings Says:

If I was lucky enough to win this awesome phone, I would actually give it to my eldest daughter so that she ( & my myself) could reconnect with her boyfriend who is going to college in a city a fair distance away from us & he is like a second son to our family! My daughter has loved this phone since it first hit the Canadian market, but she can't understand why nobody is mentioning the built-in mirror?!
    We have our fingers crossed!

  70. jennifervillamere Says:

Yes! It does kind of have a have a built in mirror - when you slide the keyboard out, the back of the screen is reflective. You can definitely use it to check your lipstick . . . or make sure there's nothing in your teeth. Very handy.

  72. Cheryl Says:

“Dear Cheryl: Hi! My name is Lisa. I saw your name in my Young World pen pal list. I would like to be your pen pal.” That’s how my friendship with Lisa began on August 3, 1974. She was twelve years old and lived in Haskell, New Jersey, East Coast of the U.S.A. I was thirteen years old and lived in Surrey, British Columbia, West Coast of Canada. Three thousand miles and a country separated us, but this was the beginning of several years correspondence that convinced me Lisa was my long lost soul sister. How else could 2 people who have never met write 10 page letters twice a month? Unfortunately sometime in the mid-1980's we lost touch with each other, and the Internet still hasn't reconnected us, though I have spent many hours searching. I've kept her letters all these years and still wonder whatever happened to her.

I'd like to reconnect with my son. He recently moved into his first apartment and decided not to get a land line. So, the only way to reach him is with the cell phone, and he rarely answers anything but text messages, as those are free for him. I'm having trouble with the texting with my simple little phone as it's pretty clumsy, and would like to improve on this issue. The Palm sounds like a great solution.

If I had a Palm Pre it would be so easy to stay in touch and then I wouldn't have to use my dumb old phone that can't use the web. A Palm Pre would help me so much!

My mom was 84 at the time. I was scared and he comforted me and kept reassuring me that she would be ok. When it came time for her discharge he told me that she could not go home and look after herself. He asked where she would be going. We met at a soccer game at my jr. high. It was a wonderful romance, but eventually, we lost touch and I've always wondered what became of him!

  97. Rachel R Says:

I would love to reconnect with my mom. Since I have 4 children 2 years apart it is hard to talk on the phone. My mom and I used to talk once a week or more for over an hour ach time. But now, she feels like she is disturbing our schedule and when it is finally quiet and I call her she is either out or in bed. We tried the email thing, but the computer is away in a room and she is not that comfortable with it as it isn't hers. If I was to receive the Palm Pre, I would give it to her set up and ready to go so that we can stay in touch easier. Seems he usually is fishing when I call and I don't get a call back....I wish we could talk without interference... He's getting older and I worry. I miss him so much.

I would love to reconnect with my friend Julie. I met Julie in grade 7 and our friendship and many adventures continued until we were about 26 years old. Julie moved out west to Kelowna, B.C. to stay with a friend for awhile and then she decided to stay there. She has come back to Toronto once or twice when her mother still lived here but then she moved her mom out west too. We had a junior high school reunion this summer since we all turned 50 years old in 2009. Sadly, Julie was unable to make the trip back here and I really, really want to see her big blue eyes again and stay up all night remembering and laughing about all our fun times together. Since that may not happen I would love to phone her and listen to a comforting voice from my youth.

Family is important.

I would love to be able to connect to my two grown sons who live in the Kingston and I haven't seen them in over three years. We don't call as often as we'd like as they don't have a long distance plan and their texting is limited to the occassional message. We do send email back and forth, but it would be nice to be able to have a phone that I could text them or even give to them to text me.

My young sister got married and moved away to New Zealand. I haven't seen her in nearly 20 years.
And with the time and date difference between Canada and NZ, not to mention the cost, it's next to impossible to talk with her.
A Palm Pre would be the ultimate way to keep in frequent touch with my "baby" sister.

  138. Adina Helmer Says:

It would be nice to catch up with some of my former coworkers. Mostly, I would love to have a smart phone because I tend to disappear on extended shopping/etc. trips (we don't have a car, so I walk or bus everywhere), and my husband sometimes worries about where I am if I forget to update him.

  139. Mike Says:

  145. Tanya B Says:

I would like to reconnect with my mom, half-brother, and half-sister. Our relationship fell apart due to my reluctance to have anything to do with the father of my brother and sister. I have very good and valid reasons for this but my family has slowly over time stopped talking to me. Also my mom has taken up her husband's religion which I am fine with (although I don't want to join up myself) but I think these things combined over time has given my family a poor excuse for cutting me off unfortunately. I have tried reaching out to my family repeatedly over the years since pressing charges against the step-father but I guess perhaps in their minds it is easier to just pretend I am not there. Sigh.

  146. petal Says:

My heart yearns to reconnect with my friend Peggy. She was such an amazing and talented young person and I never had the chance to tell her how much her artistic nature touched me.She moved to another province and I lost touch. Now that I am older and married, I have an adopted daughter who is also beautiful and gifted. I wish I could tell Peggy all about my daughter and ask her about her two girls.
