And the Subway winners are . . .

On November 30, I asked you to tell me about your favourite winter sport for a chance to win Subway Holiday Cash Cards. Each of our five winners will be awarded two cards - one to keep and one to give as a gift. Each card is loaded with $10.

Here's what our winners said about their fave ways to stay active in the winter:

Gilbert says:
"My favourite winter sport is "Road Hockey", the only way I can participate, since I can't skate very good, but I do love the game. I've been playing since forever."

Jordan says:
"
I love to snowshoe! I picked up a pair about 2 years ago, never having tried it out. In and around Edmonton there are lots of nature trails you can head out on, and when we go on vacation, they are light and small to pack. It's a great workout and it really lets you enjoy everything about the outdoors...when you're bundled up that is!"

Linda says:
"I love walking my doggie Max on a clear sunny snowy day. He has a brown sweater he wears and looks so cute in. We end our walk in the park and he runs like crazy."

Christine says:
"I love tobogganing down a big snowy hill during the winter. It's great fun that I've been doing since I was a kid and it's good way to keep feeling young."

Patricia says:
I love skating. I don't know when I started skating but my favorite place to skate is still an outdoor pond, rink at night. I don't think anything else about winter is as magic as that.

Ahh, nothing beats skating on an outdoor rink. Planning a skating party this holiday season? You'll love our hearty, simple Skating Party Menu.

And the Palm Pre winner is . . .

Yes! You could WIN one!

On November 2, I asked you to tell us who you’d like to reconnect with for a chance to win a Palm Pre.

I’ve read all your entries at least twice, often through tears. It’s so sad to think of our lost connections, of families spread out across the country, of childhood friends we’ve become “too busy” for.

I hope many of you will have time over the holidays to reconnect with your loved ones. So many of your entries made my eyes damp, I wish I had a prize for each of you. But I chose this winner because her entry made me laugh. I hope it makes you laugh, too.

Kim says:
“I would like to reconnect with my husband. We've been married for 5 years and in that time we've had three kids. We have a 4 year old, a 2.5 yr. old and a 6 month old. Life is a little bit (who am I kidding, it's a lot more) crazy and it's gotten harder to have a conversation. We used to fire emails back and forth all day long, but now I barely make it onto the computer. Maybe a new phone would help us keep in touch better during the day when he's at work and I'm at the park with the kids. It would only work though if I made sure that it didn't get flushed down the toilet. It seems everything ends up in the toilet somehow. Maybe we should try reconnecting there?”

Congratulations Kim and thank you to all who entered. I look forward to staying connected with you through the Health & Wellness Club blog!

And the winners are . . .

Congratulations to Debbie and Kara who have each won a copy of Dan Buettner new book, The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer From the People Who've Lived the Longest, for entering our October 27 contest by telling us what's on their bucket list.

Debbie says:
"Drink Guinness in a Irish pub, celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans, cruise the Panama Canal and Alaska, be a season ticket holder to the Montreal Canadiens, visit Churchill, Manitoba, to see the polar bears, drive a Formula One racecar, sky dive, see the Olympics in person, and tour England, Ireland, Greece, Italy, France and Scotland. And do it all with my husband. Except for the Formula One car and sky diving, I don't think he'd go for that, but he'd be there cheering me on."

Kara says:

  • Get married in a tropical climate
  • Have children, watch them grow and see them have a family of their own
  • Travel the world and at least visit every continent
  • Skydive at least once
  • Buy a brand new car off the lot
  • Finish school with an MBA
  • Win the lottery (haha!)
