My 6-Week Slim-Down goal
Here’s a little something you should know about me: I’m addicted to sweets. It’s not good! Since Jan. 1 I haven’t touched a sweet (this has been really really hard). And my hope is that over the next six weeks I can can rid of this dependency so I can feel better about my diet.
There are a few.
1) My afternoon craving. This seems to come about around 3 p.m., and it’s vicious. As I get tired, my craving for sugary treats intensifies.
2) The Test Kitchen. I work on the same floor as our talented Test Kitchen experts, and you should see the food that comes out of there. Yummy treats are often offered around the office. It will take great will power to say No thank you!
3) Social engagements. I find this to be the hardest! How do you pass up birthday cake at a birthday party? Or sweets at the end of a meal at your mother-in-law’s house? I think it’ll be hard to say no in front of people, and have to explain why you’re the one at the table to turn to down sweets.
My first success is being able to avoid sweets for the past seven days! I’ve noticed that my 3 p.m. slump is a result of just being a bit peckish. I keep snacks on hand like cut up veggies and hummus, so when I’m hungry I don’t have to prepare anything. This seems to keep the cravings at bay. In terms of the Test Kitchen treats and being out at events, I’ve decided the answer is to just be strong and own it! I am proud to be altering my diet and hope I will feel better. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
