Can men really not deal with vagina content?

Vaginal-health It's pretty sad that I have to write this. But earlier this week Canadian Living put up a piece about 6 vaginal issues and how to treat them on our Facebook page. A man, who will not be named, posted "Wow, and you're unliked/followed" in response to the article. Really? A women's magazine daring to talk about vaginal health is a problem for you? After reading that comment I felt like I was back in Grade 5, where we all couldn't say penis and vagina without laughing. But we're not in grade 5 anymore. We're adults and you may feel squeamish about talking about vaginas, but you in no way should essentially be running away scared because someone talked about a body part. All men have a woman in their life...a sister, mom, girlfriend, wife, friend or daughter. And guess what, they all have vaginas. I would sincerely hope that any man would want the women in their life to be educated about their vaginal health and seek help when they think they may have an infection that could potentially lead to a larger problem. Moreover, I think as a women's magazine we have a responsibility to talk about women's health issues like yeast infections and endometriosis. In fact, I think men and women should be outraged if we didn't talk about those topics. It's a disservice to our readers not to provide them with crucial health information. Just like it's a disservice for men's magazines not to talk about prostate cancer. Now, I should say that I don't think all men can't deal with vagina content. And to those men I say thank you, thank you for understanding that women have vaginas and that you shouldn't run away when we dare to mention them. Maybe you could talk to your less understanding friends and share your wisdom with them. They clearly need it.  ©iStockphoto.com/studiovespa
