An easy way to make healthy meals at home

Have you ever tried a food delivery service? While organic produce delivery services and grocery store deliveries offer individuals lots of opportunities to try unique and healthy foods, they don't necessarily provide all the ingredients you need to put together an easy and healthy meal. And if you're not the best chef (a.k.a. moi) then you're likely to struggle with trying out new ingredients or recipes without guidance. Or you end up buying everything but the one most important ingredient or spice that makes the dish delish. (Again, this has happened to me.) So I always jump at the opportunity to try new ways to eat healthy. Recently, I had the opportunity to test-drive a few home food delivery systems (such as  Mealspirations) to see if this kind of a system would help me eat more interesting meals. And trust me, if you're busy and need help in the kitchen these systems are a no-brainer. 9c1da046-721b-4a42-9950-5d4d8b0c763a When I first tried Mealspirations, I got their classic menu. How does it work? First, they deliver all the ingredients you need plus a recipe which uses said ingredients. You're given portions of ingredients based on how many people you're serving and usually there's enough for leftovers. I started with a poached salmon and a nicoise salad dish. Generally, I would never attempt to make such an elaborate meal at home but the step by step instructions were definitely helpful (though I decided not to poach the salmon because I like mine better baked). It also required that your pantry have a few ingredients that I didn't have (like grape seed oil) but I just did without and it still tasted good to me. Why did I like it? First, it's a fun way to try new recipes every once in a while and the recipes use delicious, fresh ingredients I wouldn't otherwise purchase because I don't know what to do with them. Second, I also saved the recipe card it came with so I could re-create the dish again. Third, there's a lot of selection. Mealspirations has more than  150 recipes developed by Chef Matthew Kennedy of Bymark and North 44, so you really can't go wrong. I'm not sure I would sign up for a food delivery system on a regular basis (mostly because I'm too lazy to make full-on dishes every night) but I think this is a great gift for a new mom, a family who is moving or even friends who are looking to host a dinner party or a way to motivate those who really struggle with cooking.
