How a toss cushion can inspire an entire room

Sometimes all it takes is a single fabric to inspire an entire room.

That was certainly the case with my latest vignette for The Marilyn Denis Show, which drew its entire palette from this showstopping cushion from the tastemakers at Tonic Living:

I already knew I wanted to evoke a vaguely nautical vibe with a blue-and-white colour scheme, but those particular blues came directly from the gorgeous Jacobean print on this linen/rayon cushion cover. From that single jumping-off point, I chose a grey-blue paint for the walls, a crisp white for the white-cotton slipcovered loveseat, and a deep teal for an additional pair of toss cushions.:

Virtually every colour in my room set for The Marilyn Denis Show was pulled directly from that one toss cushion!
