I have never really understood Valentine's Day.
Yeah, yeah, according to Wikipedia, Saint Valentine's Day "is a holiday observed on February 14 honouring one or more early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery and sending greeting cards."

Now, if it was a statutory holiday and we had the day off... well, I would be in a more loving mood.
But a designated day for lovers can either be a little depressing or expensive. For those without a significant partner, it's isolating. And for those with one, it can be costly. Flowers become more expensive, dinner reservations are hard to come by, and there are so few chocolates for such a big box.
But really, shouldn't we show love every day?
Shouldn't we appreciate and acknowledge those in our lives for how they make us feel?
I show love every day...
....in my own special way.
- A fresh coffee for my coworker.
- A clean made bed to lay your head.
- My husband's favourite meal.
- A written note hidden in my kid's backpack every day.
- Every Saturday, I take my mom shopping.
- My sister has free babysitting for her 3-month-old.
- I listen to friends when they need an ear.
I tell them...
Words.
That's all we need.
