Here’s a pretty thing worth taking a break for: this stunning time-lapse video was taken in October at the International Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, where more than 550 balloons from 18 countries took to the skies. I’ve never gone up in a balloon, and confess that I don’t know a Barnes basket from a rosiere. But after watching this video, I’m suddenly aware of a hankering I didn’t even know I had. I’m putting this festival on my list of places to see one day. Perhaps I’ll even convince my husband to lift off with me. (A hot air balloon ride is #57 on this great list of 101 things to do with your sweetheart.) But for now, I’ll have to content myself with watching this serene video from my desk. Keep an eye out for the cute little yellow guy floating across the screen at the 1:30 mark, and again at the 2:00 minute mark for the gorgeous twilight “Balloon Glow” event where balloonists fire up their burners at the same time.
