Best New Year's Gift to Yourself

Advice (and inspiration) from a solo traveller New Year's Day, for me, is a time for reflection. As I write this blog, I'm slowly making my way home from a week-long visit to England, where I've been hiking the North Downs Way and the South Downs Way with a side trip to the Chiltern Hills on the outskirts of London. I find that "rambling," the British term for hiking, is conducive to taking stock of my life, and reflecting on where I want to go next, both geographically and spiritually. What will the next phase of my life hold for me? And, sometimes, it does the soul good to draw inspiration from the experiences and wisdom of others. Perhaps you read about Solo Travel expert Janice Waugh when she released the first edition of her book a few years ago. I had the pleasure of interviewing Janice at that time, just when I was starting to travel on a much more frequent basis, and increasingly on my own. I inhaled every page of her first book. It speaks to all kinds of travellers – young, old, middle-aged, single, first-timers and experienced travellers. Janice has just released that second edition and has more to say about the art of travelling alone.  Janice has been journeying on her own and blogging about it for a long time and her storehouse of wisdom and anecdotes delivers the perfect mix of service and inspiration. Janice has roughed it on occasion Janice Waugh Rock Climbinb And she's also taken time to put her feet up on her travels Janice Waugh Solo Traveler's Handbook And in the latest edition of her book: Janice Waugh Solo Traveler's Handbook Have you ever travelled alone? No? What's stopping you? Start the new year off right with a dose of inspiration. Janice's handbook is available in various forms.
