Heartwarming story of the day: Little league coach gives emotional speech to players after heartbreaking loss

This has got to be one of the loveliest speeches I have ever heard.

After his team was defeated at the Little League World Series, Rhode Island coach, David Belisle delivered an eloquently moving speech to his young players. The raw emotional beauty of what kids and sports should be about is all wrapped into this little video. There is so much love and respect for his team, you can’t help but to become emotionally invested in each and every one of his heartfelt words.

“Heads up high. Heads up high. I’ve got to see your eyes, guys. There’s no disappointment in your effort – in the whole tournament, the whole season. It’s been an incredible journey.”

“It’s Ok to cry, because we’re not going to play baseball together any more. But we’re going to be friends forever. Our little league careers have ended on the most positive note that could ever be. OK? Ever be.”

“I love you guys. I’m gonna love you forever. You’ve given me the most precious moment in my athletic and coaching career, and I’ve been coaching a long time – a looooong time. I’m getting to be an old man. I need memories like this, I need kids like this. You’re all my boys. You’re the boys of summer.”

Perfectly said David. And we too need memories like this. We need coaches like this. You’re our coach. You’re the coach of the century.

This quote comes to mind “Not every successful man is a great father, but every great father is a successful man.”

And you, David Belisle, are a very successful man.
