Is tobogganing too dangerous? Say it isn't so.

tobogganing The first snowfall has always been a magical time of year. It's the time both kids and adults alike head over to their local snow covered hill and sled their way to happiness. With hearts racing and blood pumping, it's a great way to get the physical exercise needed for optimal health. Toboganning has always been a winter activity highlight. That is...until now...as tobogganing bans and restrictions are increasing across North America. Some municipalities across Canada and the US are imposing toboganning bans, deeming some hills too slippery or too dangerous. What? Please say it isn't so. I've been tobogganing my whole life.  No winter is ever complete without a few treks down a snow covered hill. It's a great winter pastime for many and now it's in jeopardy because the number of lawsuits being brought forward due to sledding injuries are on the rise. Although I can sympathize with the individual that is seriously injured due to an unfortunate accident on the hill, I can't understand how they can blame the municipality or park or city for their misfortune. They got on the hill willingly. They slid down the slippery slope and got hurt. Accidents happen. It's time we start taking accountability for our own actions and stop blaming everyone else for our misfortunes.
