Mom's response to misbehaving teen daughters is spot on!

movie theatre   What would you do if you found out your children behaved poorly in a public place? Would you punish them? Would you have a stern talking with them? Or would you do what this mom did? Kyesha Smith Wood dropped off her son, daughter and step-daughter at the movie theatre. The kids sat behind Rebecca Boyd and her 12-year-old daughter Ashley. The girls giggled, spoke loudly and kicked the back of Rebecca's seat throughout the duration of the movie.   "At one point, I turned around and told them that we paid for the movie just like they did. They just giggled at me and continued with the same behaviour." Rebecca approached the girls after the movie and expressed her disapproval with their actions "I told them they needed to realize their behaviour affects others and they never know what other people around them are going through. For instance my husband was just laid off from his job and this would be the last movie I could take my daughter to for a while, and they had ruined that." Once home, the girls brother told their mom what happened. She was humiliated with the girls and in an attempt to get in touch with the mom on the receiving end of her daughter's poor behaviour, posted this note on her facebook page... “This is a long shot, but I’m looking for a woman that was at Tannehill Premier tonight seeing Cinderella at 7 pm. I dropped my teenage daughter, step-daughter, and son off at the movie. My son later told me, much to my humiliation and embarrassment, that my girls were rude and abnoxious during the movie. The woman I'm looking for addressed them and asked them to be quiet and they were disrespectful. After the movie, she approached my girls and told them that her husband had been laid off and this was the last movie she would be able to taker her daughter too for a while and my girls ruined that for her. If you are this woman, please message me. I can assure you that these girls are being strongly dealt with and appropriately punished. This rude, disrespectful, and awful behavior is unacceptable and they owe you an apology. My husband and I are having them write your apology letter tonight and we would like to pay for your next movie and snacks out of their allowance. Please message me if this is you. I apologize profusely for their disrespect.” The post went viral and eventually made it's way to Rebecca. "I was very touched that Kyesha was not offended that I approached her girls. Her kind letter brought tears to my eyes." After the two moms connected, Kyesha thanked Rebecca  "for correcting my girls in my absence and letting them know that they were wrong. It takes a village to raise our kids." I love that these moms didn't get upset with each other or standoffish. They both know that kids will be kids and a lesson such as this one can go a long way in determining their future behaviour. My husband and I have always told our children that when they are out in the world, they are representing not only themselves, but our family too. This is a beautiful example of just that.   photo courtesy of Saire Elizabeth/Flickr
