UPDATE: This contest is now closed. Here’s a sobering stat: only 45 percent of companion animals admitted into shelters get adopted. Iams Home 4 the Holidays hopes to change that. Now in its 14th year, the campaign aims to not only bring awareness to pet adoption, but also help ensure proper nutrition for homeless pets. During [...]
A few weeks ago I shared a few of my favourite quotes about cats and a few fun words about dogs. I couldn’t resist adding a third volume to the series. With this collection everyone from world leaders to the rather-not-be-named offers up an opinion on cats versus dogs. Here are 9 quotes I particularly [...]
What would you choose: your home or your pet? That’s the decision seven seniors in Moncton, N.B., are now being forced to make. The pet-owning residents of Lions Tower, a subsidized complex for seniors, have been told to evict their pets or face eviction themselves after a fellow tenant complained of there being animals in [...]
Here’s a question to ponder: If you’re an airline, how do you simultaneously accommodate passengers who wish to fly with their cats while also ensuring that people who are allergic to the animal don’t suffer? It’s a question Air Canada, Jazz and WestJet have been mulling over since late last year. In December, the Canadian [...]
Since 1999 the Iams Home 4 the Holidays campaign has helped 5.8 million orphaned animals in 21 countries. If you’ve been thinking of adding a four-legged member to your family, check out Facebook.com/Iams [...]
Cat guys get a hard time. Cat’s aren’t especially manly pets, and that tends to (unfairly) reflect on the owners. They’re not “man’s best friend” and they don’t have that kind of manly duty of defending hearth and home (not that I’ve ever actually seen a dog do that, unless you count giving the mailman [...]
A quick note for today: It may be a pain to remember to regularly brush your dog’s teeth (though it’s important to know how to do it properly) or take care of your’s cat’s chompers, but at least you don ’t have to do this.
The other day I posted a few ideas for makeshift dog toys. But it’s not just dogs, of course, that love it when household items become their personal playthings. I’m not a cat owner, but a quick survey around the office confirmed that our feline friends are very easy to please with a whole bunch [...]
