Summer's imminent end ... and a giveaway!

I'll be sad to see summer go. But this picture sure makes me excited about running in the cool fall breeze!

I'll be sad to see summer go. But this picture sure makes me excited about running in the cool fall breeze!

September 1 always has a sense of sadness in the air. Maybe it's because everyone feels like summer's on its way out. Buck up now! I know it's sad, but there are still plenty of peaches and plums at the farmers markets, begging you to make a pie or brown Betty so you can savour summer's flavour a little more.

And, you know, fall has its merits. What can compete with the sound of leaves crunching under your feet? Or apple picking? Or ... or, better yet, pumpkin pie (or insert favourite fall treat here ... like apple pie)? (Confession: I don't like pumpkin pie, but it seems to be a hit with everyone else ... am I weird?).

Also, fall means getting cosy. Snuggling up with a cuppa, blanket and a good book is one of my favourite pastimes.

Fall: I'm not afraid of you. Bring it on!

Furry VengeanceToday I'm giving away two copies of the DVD Furry Vengeance, starring Brandon Fraser. It's about a real estate developer whose latest project is threatening local wildlife. The super-cute woodland critters band together to stand up to the man, so as not to have their habitat wiped out. This man vs. nature flick would be a great movie to watch with the family on a crisp, fall evening.

If you want to win, simply subscribe to my blog and leave a comment here telling me what your favourite season is and why, and you could win! I'll randomly select two winners on Friday, September 17.
