39th Annual Festival of India Parade, Downtown Toronto

Sometimes it's worth staying home on a summer weekend to enjoy what's on your very doorstep. I guess that's why people rave about staycations.

I stuck to my home turf in the city this past weekend and on Saturday morning I sauntered over to Yonge Street to watch the rollicking, colourful, vibrant kick-off parade to the 39th annual Festival of India. The parade was organized by the Hare Krishna Centre and the highlights were three 40-foot floats, which were hand-pulled by volunteers to the beat of drums, chanting and and dancing.
