Stick On Nails: Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Good God, I love nail polish. It's quickly become my favourite beauty product. My boyfriend calls it an unhealthy obsession and (for once) he's right. I'm constantly using nail polish remover to change my nail colour, sometimes daily. Not because I'm sick of the colour, but because my nails often chip only hours after a polish change. They just refuse to hang onto colour, unlike my style editor-at-large Karen Kwinter's nail beds. No matter what brand of polish she swipes on (her fave is Deborah Lippmann Waking up in Vegas) the colour stays on strong, sometimes up to two weeks! So jealous. picture-13This is where Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips comes into play. They have a similar look to Minx (a flexible UV cured polymer), but you can apply these colours and graphics to your nails at home. No salon visit required. They kind of look like stickers, but they're not, it's actually nail polish. My favourite thing about them is the zero drying time. I tested out a highlighter-pink set and it outperformed regular polish, lasting 3 days before I got a chip — even though they claim to last up to 10 days. They would probably only last that long on Karen.

The intense pigment also was an attention-grabber, I got tons of compliments from complete strangers. They're super easy to apply and although they recommend removing with nail polish remover, I just peeled them off. Anything to avoid giving my nails another lashing from remover.

I'm hooked! I can't wait to try the other cool graphics, particularly the black lacy ones. Will you try these on for size? Available at  select drugstores and mass retailers and Walmart.
