It may seem obvious to gravitate toward sweaters with the onset of cooler weather. So you'll be happy to know that hand knit–looking sweaters are all the rage this fall/winter season. My personal favourite way to wear them is oversize – I'm talking Flashdance oversize.
It's such a comfortable trend, I'm sure it's going to go gangbusters in Canada because of our ultra-frigid temps. I mean, really now, why wouldn't you want to grab something that has an equal ratio of cosy to chicness.
Check out these five extra-grand knit styles I'm lusting after.
Most coveted pullovers:
- ASOS cable-knit sweater, $81.50.
- Zara front-seam sweater, $100.
- Aritzia Luke sweater, $125.
- H&M camel sweater, $25.
- Joe Fresh scoop-neck sweater, $29.
When you hit retailers in search of your perfect sweater, keep these style tips in mind:
TEXTURED – Embrace chunky sweaters: Look for cables, entwined openwork, reverse jacquard knits, and ribbed or crocheted sweaters.
COLOUR – Anything really goes, an oversize cardigan in a neutral hue such as stone grey or creamy caramel looks sophisticated and chic. However a pop of colour in your sweater is very on trend. If you're after colour, look for vibrant shades such as chartreuse, hot pink, teal, cobalt, berry or red.
SHAPE – Sweaters come in all shapes and sizes this season, from the oversize boyfriend-style sweater to an off-the-shoulder dancer shape to something structured and fitted.
Will you buy a new sweater this season or are you going to stick with an old favourite?
