Pretty quick: Liquid eyeliner

This fall, I get the feeling that the major makeup trends are set on bringing sexy back.

We've seen the return of red nails kept a little longer in a retro almond shape, as well as the sexy but tasteful look of traditional red lips in deep shades like burgundy. And, finally, my favourite: Architectural flicks of liquid liner – so Jessica Rabbit.

I've professed my love for electric liners on this blog before – and I just can't seem to quit them. However I'm saving the bright flicks of colour for summer; I've since moved on to darker shades such as plum, grey and black.

The trick to wearing sultry modern eyeliner is to keep the rest of your makeup simple and natural. You also don't want the liner to look too severe, so rather than doing a "cat eye" (like in the image above) try to keep the line medium-thick, following your eye shape. When you get to the outer corner don't bring the liner up. Instead, continue the same line for about a centimetre. You can still wear your liner winged, just save it for evenings and special occasions.

Another trend we're seeing a lot of is metallic smoky eyes. If this look is a tad too intense for you then you can achieve a similar but subtler version by means of metallic eyeliner. You can try this by buying metallic eyeliner or you can use an eyeliner brush dipped in a little bit of water and a baked gold or silver eye shadow.

The best part? It’s not difficult at all to pull off. Do you wear liquid liner? If so what's your favourite brand?
