I love having "crushes" on colours. Aside from the fact that wearing a shade out of your comfort zone can be invigorating (and perhaps net you a few compliments), it's one of the easiest ways to distil something from the runway without sinking into debt or feeling left out.
One of my favourite shows is always Dries Van Noten. While the spring 2012 collection showed a few weeks ago, I'm still looking to replenish my fall wardrobe, and I was totally inspired by this shot from the designer's fall 2011 collection. It makes me crave all things in shades of citrouille. Such as:
This amazing rusty pumpkin shade from Joe Fresh. At $4 per bottle or three for $10, there's no need to worry about accidentally knocking a bottle over on your glass coffee table. Because only I do that, right?
These amazing Booker boots from J.Crew, which now happen to reside with Janine Falcon from BeautyGeeks. I can only imagine how awesome they'd look with all her cosy grey knits. Grey + camel= #killercolourcombo.
Then there's this very darling cardigan from Aritzia. Would love it over a crisp white button-down like this one from Gap.
And because the idea of smelling like a big ol' gourd is what every girl wants (again – just me?) this Body Shop Spiced Pumpkin Bath & Shower Gel fits the bill. It also happens to be a customer creation, which is a pretty cool idea.
And lastly, if you're dying to sink your teeth into something pumpkin flavoured, check out these amazing recipes: Canadian Living's Steamed Pumpkin Pudding with a Brown Sugar Sauce and the Pumpkin Week Roundup from Sweet Potato Chronicles. Did you read this before dinner? I'm sorry!
So what do you think? Do you like my favourite fall shade?
