Trend-spotting: Seafoam at the Golden Globes

I’m crushing hard on Jessica Chastain. Although she’s been acting for some time, her breakout role came last year as Celia Foote in The Help, which is right around the time my girl crush on the bombshell ginger began.

During last year’s award season Chastain had her first shot at the major leagues – a.k.a. award season red carpets – and she continuously hit her looks out of the park. She excites me because the woman takes risks, has fun and commits to her look 100 per cent. Plus, she’s a damn fine actress to boot. She won the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture on Sunday night for her role in Zero Dark Thirty. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m planning to this weekend.

At this year’s Golden Globe Awards, Chastain wore a silk crêpe halter dress by Calvin Klein Collection and designed by Francisco Costa, the brand’s creative director. The press release describes the colour as seafoam, but I see a bit of robin’s egg blue and a touch of mint in this heavenly hue. Whatever you want to call it, I’m dying over it and I need to own more of this dreamy wash of colour.

There’s no better time to add some refreshing soft minty blue hues into your wardrobe. I love these airy hues in everything from a heavy wool sweater to a lightweight silk scarf. Plus, it’s a season-less colour that works equally well in both summer and winter.
