Editor’s Pick: Best new day and night creams

It’s part of my job to test drive new products that land on my desk. (Yeah, I know, it’s not a bad gig.) But my bathroom shelves are overflowing with so many new serums, eye creams and anti-agers it can be hard to pick out the ones that actually deliver on their promises. Luckily, I’ve discovered a few standout products as of late and had to share:

For day:

Origins SPF 25 Anti-aging Oil-Free Cream, 50 mL, $69, origins.com.

This cream is a serious multi-tasker. First, it provides intense, non-greasy moisture and absorbs quickly so I can easily apply makeup over top. Second, it contains anti-aging raspberry plant stem cell technology (to plump and regenerate cells) and African Anogeissus (a natural wound healer). Third, it has an SPF 25. If you’re going to be basking in the sun you’ll want to apply sunscreen throughout the day but I’m happy with this extra SPF boost in my routine.

The real deal: I love the idea of anti-aging ingredients for daytime — I feel like I’m being proactive by providing my skin with active ingredients 24/7 instead of just tackling these issues at bedtime.

For night:

Hope in a Jar Night, 60 mL, $66, philosophy.com.

I first heard about Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar cream years ago on an episode of Oprah. It got me thinking — if a media maven who makes billions uses this cream it must be doing something right! So when I received the latest launch of Hope in a Jar for night, I figured I’d give it a go. I wasn’t sure it would be moisturizing enough for my skin – especially because it contains a re-texturizer with glycolic acid to help get rid of dead skin cells. But it wasn’t drying or irritating. In fact, it’s just the opposite (likely due to the gradual release technology that works as you sleep). It plumped up my skin while clearing it up.

The real deal: I feel like it’s working on my breakouts, fine lines and dryness all at once — how often can you say that about your night cream?

Now that I’ve shared mine, which skin creams do you love?
