Beauty tips: Look your best when you travel

Whether you’re going to a cottage for the weekend or jetting off on a transatlantic trip this summer, if you’re like me, what to pack is always top of mind.  And just because you’re going on vacation doesn’t mean you want to forgo your beauty routine – but how you pare it down on the road?

First, check out our top 6 travel beauty products here.

And here’s some product suggestions and tips that might help all of you beauty product hoarders:

Dry shampoo. If you’re  spending time on the road or in an airport en route you don’t want to look greasy on day two. Try a dry shampoo or a texturizing spray to keep your hair from drooping. We like Kevin Murphy‘s Powder Puff above for $28. Plus it’s small enough to slip into your carry-on.

Vitamin C Illuminating Eye Pads

Undereye de-puffers. Travelling in different time zones can make you look less than fresh. Dark circles, puffiness and exaggerated fine lines are the tell-tale signs of changing your sleep schedule and drinking too many margaritas. There’s so many beauty options to choose from but we like a mini undereye patch for some serious hydration like these Vitamin C Illuminating Eye Pads from Elizabeth Grant, $10. You can also try the Garnier Anti-Wrinkle Eye Roller  – it’s a best-seller for a reason.

conair straightener

Mini Hair Stylers. I recommend letting your hair go au naturel on vacay but if that’s not in the cards then a mini straightener is key. We like this Conair 1/2″ Mini Ceramic Straightener, $20, from Walmart.ca. You can also try a cordless curling iron (Conair also has one) for styling in countries where an adapter is sure to fry your styling tool.

Travel-sized versions of your favourites. You know that aisle with a million seemingly useless products? Stock up on mini mouthwash and pint-sized deodorants if you want to lighten your load.

Grab some samples. Perfume samples from department stores along with hotel shampoo, conditioner and mini soaps can all be your friend on the road. Plus, you can re-use the mini bottles for your next trip.
