Making the move from Shanghai to Toronto was a relativity smooth transition, until my first winter. Gosh, it was hard! My first task was to load up on winter gear; down jacket, check! Gloves, check! Snow boots, double check! But what really surprised me was that I also needed to supercharge my skincare products to combat Toronto’s blistery conditions. My skin was entering crisis mode—and the fact that I have eczema just complicated things. I ended up trying a plethora of products to sooth my constantly parched skin and finally this winter I've figure things out. Here are the best skin-savers that promise to fight off dry, tight and flaky skin. Shu Uemura Red:Juvenus Vitalizing Retexturizing Cream, $120. I swear by the whole Shu Uemura Red:Juvenus skincare range. I’ve been using this super hydrating soothing gel-cream for the last two years. Right after application my skin feels plumper and smoother, plus it’s a great base to apply makeup over.

Clinique, Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief, $44. This cream goes everywhere I go. It’s lightweight, refreshing and quickly absorbs into skin while still packing a moisture punch.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, $100. They call this “miracle water” in Asia for a reason, and although I was skeptical when my mum forced it in my hands I now love it. It's a splurge, but it really helps moisturize my skin and helps maintain a healthy balance of sebum (oil) and water. It's packed with Pitera, which is an ingredient that helps enhance the skin's renewal process; it’s also packed with amino acids and antioxidant vitamins. I pat this over my face after toner and eye cream.

Bliss High Intensity 24- ‘Heaven ’ Body Balm, $41. A few weeks ago, my skin became so dry that it actually hurt to walk #eczemaproblems. I tried ointments, lotions, creams but none were nearly as effective as this body butter. It only took a few days of use to turn my snakeskin into smooth and supple human skin. Definitely stocking up! EOS Lip Balm, $6. When it comes to lip balms, Eos has the cutest and most clever packaging, ever! The beauty of this product is that you don't need used your fingers to apply, just smear directly to lips! Plus it's 95% organic and paraben, petrolatum, phthalate and gluten free. It's a makeup bag (and purse) staple; I’ve gone through close to ten within the last year.
