Hair how-to: Get Emilia Clarke's red carpet waves

Are you a Game of Thrones enthusiast? If the answer is yes there's no doubt you're an Emilia Clarke fan. The English actress plays Daenerys Targaryen aka Khalessi aka Mother of Dragons on HBO's hit medieval fantasy drama. I'm a huge fan, of both her and the show, I'm just counting down my Sunday nights until April 6th, which marks the debut of the show's fourth season. The star was a presenter at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, so of course she strode down the red carpet. Clarke looked sparkly chic in her sweetheart neckline  Proenza Schouler dress, accompanies by Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Baird & Baird bag and Sidney Garber bangles. One of my favourite details of her overall look was her soft, touchable waves. Find out how to get Clarke's red carpet coif, with the inside scoop straight from her hairstylist and Dove's stylist, Mark Townsend.

Townsend was inspired by the star's gown. "The mix of embroideries looked like movement, so I wanted her hair to move beautifully as well," says Townsend.

STEAL HER STYLE — Townsend shares how to achieve Clarke's look, step-by-step.

  1.  I started by prepping her hair by adding a few drops of the new Dove Pure Care Dry Oil ($12) in her damp hair and combed through. It's loaded with African macadamia oil, which is so nourishing for the hair.
  2. Next, I sprayed the new Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Lift Spray ($8) to the roots and blow dried with a round brush.
  3. Then, I took 3-inch section of hair and wrapped each section around a 1 1/2 inch curling iron. The large barrel creates bends in the hair instead of curls.
  4. After all the sections of hair had passed through the iron, I sprayed Oribe Dry Texture Spray ($42) all over to give the hair great texture.
  5.  I finished by taking a few more drops of the new Dove Pure Care Dry Oil in my hands then raked it though her hair to give it tons of shine without weighing it down.
