Baby Steps Your basic one two punch of jumping in the shower and shampooing and conditioning won't help you now. With all the build up of hair spray, volumizing powders, gel, hair chalk and mousse you'll need to detangle before you wash. "Take a soft bristle brush and start at the bottom of your hair and work your way up to detangle knots and remove the excess product on your dry hair, allowing your shampoo and conditioner to distribute evenly,"says Strahan. Water Free Still have some snarls and tangles? Apply a moisturizing shampoo, Strahan recommends Herbal Essences Naked Moisture, onto dry hair staring at the ends."Let it sit for a few minutes before you step into the shower to breakdown any build-up that you have left in your hair so that when you get in, you can lather and rinse your hair clean." Wait it out If your hair is still feeling knotty, Strahan recommends using a cleansing conditioner for a gentle cleanse. "Work through from root to tip and let it sit for five minutes to both condition and cleanse strands to rid any remaining buildup without stripping away the moisture your hair needs," says Strahan.
