Crocheted hat and jacket for baby

This matching crocheted hat and jacket make a perfect baby shower gift.

To Make Hat
Ch 4.

Rnd 1 (right side): 11 dc in 4th ch from hook (beg 3 skipped ch count as 1 dc on foll row), join in 3rd ch of beg 3 skipped ch. 12 dc now in rnd.

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc on foll rnd), 2 dc in each rem dc, join. 24 dc now in rnd.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in joining ch, 1 dc in next dc, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc, rep from * around, join. 36 dc now in rnd.

Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in joining ch, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, rep from * around, join. 48 dc now in rnd.

Rnd 5: Ch 3, 1 dc in joining ch, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, rep from * around, join. 60 dc now in rnd.

For 6-month size only:
Rnd 6: Ch 3, 1 dc in joining ch, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, rep from * around, join. 72 dc now in rnd.

Rnd 6 (7): Ch 3, 1 dc in each dc, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. 60 (72) dc now in rnd.

Rnd 7 (8): Rep Rnd 6 (7).To Make Hat
Ch 4.

Rnds 12 (13) through 15 (16): Rep Rnds 10 (11) and 11 (12) twice more.

Rnd 16 (17): Rep Rnd 10 (11); at end of rnd do not ch 3, do not turn.

Rnd 17 (18): * Ch 1, sl st in next st, rep from * around, join. Fasten off. With tapestry needle, weave in ends on wrong side of work.
