Quick-to-crochet hat

Warm someone's head -- and heart -- with this quick and easy project.

One-size adult hat is crocheted in the round with single crochet stitches. Standard abbreviations are used. Recommended for crocheters with some experience.

Supplies
• 1-1/2 skeins Colinette Point Five yarn (100 g)
• 9 mm crochet hook OR whichever
hook you require to produce the tension given below
• Stitch marker
• Tapestry needle

Tension
7 sts and 9 rows = 10 cm/4 ins in sc using specified yarn and hook. Work to exact tension with specified yarn to obtain satisfactory results. To save time, take time to check tension.

Instructions
Notes:
• Place st marker at beg of each rnd.
• Work succeeding rnds spiral-fashion.

To shape crown:
Ch 1.
Rnd 1: Work 7 sc in first loop to form ring.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st. 14 sts now
in rnd.
Rnd 3: Work [1 sc in next st,2 sc in foll st] to end of rnd. 21 sts now in rnd.
Rnd 4: Work [1 sc in next 6 sts,2 sc in foll st] to end of rnd. 24 sts now in rnd.
Rnd 5: Work [1 sc in next 5 sts,2 sc in foll st] to end of rnd. 28 sts now in rnd.
Rnd 6: Work [1 sc in next 6 sts,2 sc in foll st] to end of rnd. 32 sts now in rnd.
Rnd 7: Work [1 sc in next 7 sts,2 sc in foll st] to end of rnd. 36 sts now in rnd.

To shape side:
Rnds 8 to 15: Work 1 sc in each st.

To shape brim:
Rnd 16: Work [1 sc in next st,2 sc in
foll st] to end of rnd. 54 sts now in rnd.
Rnd 17: Work [1 sc in next 8 sts,2 sc in foll st] to end of rnd. 60 sts now in rnd.
Rnd 18: Work 1 sc in each st. Fasten off.

To finish:
With tapestry needle, weave in yarn ends inside hat.
