Raspberry toque: A crocheted hat

This super-cute, cosy and quick-to-make toque is crocheted in a wool/acrylic/mohair blend yarn. Make one for all your friends!

Adult-size crocheted toque is worked from top to bottom in rnds of dc throughout. Standard abbreviations are used.

You need:
• 1 ball (100 g) Patons Divine 76.5 per cent acrylic/10.5 per cent mohair/10.5 per cent wool/2.5 per cent polyester yarn, Richest Rose No. 06430
• 6 mm crochet hook OR whichever size you require to obtain the tension given below
• Stitch marker

Tension
10 sts and 6 rnds = 12.5 cm (5 ins) in dc. Work to exact tension with specified yarn to obtain satisfactory results. TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK TENSION.

To make:
Ch 5, sl st to first ch to join in ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 11 dc in ring, sl st in top of ch 3, turn. Place st marker (move up at end of each rnd). 12 dc now in rnd.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, [2 dc in next dc] to end of rnd, sl st in top of ch 3. 24 dc now in rnd.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, [1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc] to last dc, 1 dc in last dc, sl st in top of ch 3. 36 dec now in rnd.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, [1 dc each in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc] to last 2 dc, 1 dc each in next 2 dc, sl st in top of ch 3. 48 dc now in rnd.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, [1 dc each in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc] to last 3 dc, 1 dc each in next 3 dc, sl st in top of ch 3. 60 dc now in rnd.
Rnds 6 through 9: Ch 3, [1 dc in next dc] to end of rnd, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnds 10 and 11: [1 sc through next dc] to end of rnd.
Rnd 12: [1 sc through next dc] to end of rnd, sl st in top of sc at beg of rnd, fasten off.

Designer’s tips
• To make child-size toque, work as given, omitting Rnd 5.
• To make larger adult-size tuque, work as given through Rnd 5, then work next rnd as follows: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, [1 dc each in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc] to last 4 dc, 1 dc each in next 4 dc, sl st in top of ch 3. 72 dc now in rnd. Complete rnds 6 through 12 as given.
