You need:
• Tooling foil
• 20-gauge wire
• Needle-nose pliers, awl, scissors and dressmaker's tracing wheel (optional)
• Pen and pencil

To make:

1. For each ornament: Using pen, draw desired ornament shape onto foil. Carefully cut out shape. Using pen, lightly draw desired design on wrong side of shape. Using tracing wheel, go over design lines to emboss dotted lines (or using pencil point, make series of indented "dots" at 2 mm/1/16-in intervals along design lines). Using pencil point, emboss solid lines by heavily redrawing design lines.

2. Lay ornament, right side up, on firm surface; using awl, make hole for hanger approx 2 mm down from tip. (If desired, make two-tone ornament: cut first shape from foil, then cut second similar but smaller shape from foil of contrasting colour. Using glue stick, glue second shape onto first; emboss as desired.) Thread short length of wire through hole to form hanging loop.

TIP: If you "can't draw," trace shapes of cookie cutters, leaves or simple designs cut from magazines (for repeated use, transfer paper pattern onto cardboard or Mylar template).
