Periscope adventures

Materials:
• Craft glue
• Craft knife
• Fabric (scraps)
• Mailing paper: brown
• Masking tape
• Narrow box or mailing tube
• Plastic camping mirrors (2)
• Twine

Instructions

1. Using craft knife, cut two slits at 45ยบ angles on opposite sides and at each end of box for mirrors as shown in Diagram A.

2. Cut out 2" x 4" rectangle from box front top and back bottom for view opening as shown in Diagram B.

IDEA: This periscope was made from a mailing tube.

3. Make certain ends of box are closed. Note: If using a mailing tube, make certain that the lid fits tightly on the tube. Mix craft glue and water. Dip brown paper into mixture and completely cover box. Do not cover slits. Let dry.

4. Slide mirrors into slits and secure with tape.

5. Embellish periscope with fabric scraps.
