Lovely lacy shawl

This pretty shawl is the perfect project for experienced knitters who love a challenge.

What you need to begin your knitted shawl

Finished shawl is 167.5 cm (66 ins) wide x 91.5 cm (36 ins) long. 

Triangular shawl is worked in pattern from centre of long (top) edge out to side edges on pair of needles, then on large circular needle when necessary to accommodate stitches. Standard abbreviations are used. Recommended for experienced knitters.

Note: There are corrections for this shawl pattern on the Patons website. Just search on the corrections page for "Heirloom Shawl."

You need:

• 8 balls Patons Kroy Socks 4-ply yarn (50 g) Natural No. 483
• One pair of 3.75 mm needles
• One 3.75 mm circular needle, 90 cm long, OR whichever needle you require to produce the tension given below
• One 3.25 mm circular needle, 90 cm long
• Stitch marker

Tension
26 sts and 34 rows = 10 cm (4 ins) in stocking stitch. Work to exact tension with specified yarn to obtain satisfactory results. TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK TENSION.

Special abbreviations
K1B = knit into back of next st.
P1B = purl into back of next st.

To make:
NOTES

All wrong side rows throughout: Purl.

Purl wrong side rows, working yfwd twice from previous row as follows: P1, p1B.
As you work each row, place st marker on centre st.

With pair of needles, cast on 9 sts.

Panel Pattern I:
Row 1 (right side): K4, [k1, yfwd, k1] in next st, k4. 11 sts now on needle.

Row 3:
K1B, p2, k1B, [(k1, yfwd, k1) in next st] 3 times, k1B, p2, k1B. 17 sts now on needle.

Row 5:
K1B, p2, k1B, inc 1 st in next st, [(k1, yfwd, k1) in next st] 7 times, inc 1 st in next st, k1B, p2, k1B.

Row 7:
K1B, p2, [k1B, yfwd, k4, k2tog, yfwd twice, sl1, k1, psso, k4, yfwd] twice, k1B, p2, k1B.

Row 9:
K1B, p2, *k1B, yfwd, k3, [K2tog, yfwd twice, sl1, k1, psso] twice, k3, yfwd, rep from * once more, k1B, p2, k1B.

Row 11:
K1B, p2, *k1B, yfwd, k2, [k2tog, yfwd twice, sl1, k1, psso] 3 times, k2, yfwd, rep from * once more, k1B, p2, k1B.

Row 13:
K1B, p2, *k1B, yfwd, k1, [k2tog, yfwd twice, sl1, k1, psso] 4 times, k1, yfwd, rep from * once more, k1B, p2, k1B.

Row 15:
K1B, p2, *k1B, k4, [k2tog, yfwd twice, sl1, k1, psso] 3 times, k4, rep from * once more, k1B, p2, k1B.

Row 17:
K1B, p2, *k1B, k2, [k2tog, yfwd twice, sl1, k1, psso] 4 times, k2, rep from * once more, k1B, p2, k1B.
