Capturing photos with a scanner

If you already have a scanner, you probably follow a few basic steps like the ones listed below. You'll need a high-quality scanner which comes with software that allows you to crop, enhance, size and colourize photos.

• Select a photo with good contrast (not too bright or dark).

• Scan one photo at a time, unless you're an expert. You'll probably need to crop it, size it to fit your document or Web page and make colour adjustments.

• When you save your scanned photos, try to group similar subjects in a single folder within your scanner application (like Adobe PhotoDeluxe). For example, batch all of your vacation shots in a file named "Family Vacations 1999" -- choose something that's easy to identify!
