You need
• Medium and large cardboard candy or pastry boxes (available at bulk food stores, or ask at your local bakery)
• Kraft paper, parchment paper, waxed paper and/or decorative paper cups
• Card stock or light cardboard
• Fabric, scrapbooking paper or gift wrap
• Ribbon, raffia or baker's twine
• Scissors, pinking shears, specialty scrapbooking scissors or X-acto knife
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Cutting mat (optional)
• Glue stick

To make:

Line a box with paper
1. Measure height and width of box to determine length of paper. (Add height to width and multiply by 2; add 1 inch/ 2.5 cm overlap.)

2. Measure length of box.

3. Using scissors, cut desired paper slightly longer and wider than measurements. Using ruler and pencil, mark measurements on paper. Using desired scissors, cut just within pencil line.

4. Centre box on paper. Fold paper up and around box, creasing lightly at folds.

5. Place paper inside box, adjusting creases as necessary to fit snugly.

Make a box divider
1.
Measure inner height, width and length of box. On light cardboard or card stock, draw 2 rectangles, 1 with height and length, the other with height and width. Cut out rectangles, rounding corners if desired. Fit, 1 at a time, into box; trim if necessary.

2. Using same rectangles as templates, trace required number onto wrong side of light cardboard or card stock. (For example, to divide into 4 compartments, you'll need 1 divider for length and 1 for width; for 6 compartments, you'll need 1 for length and 2 for width.)

3. Using ruler and pencil, mark centre at top edge of long piece(s); draw line two-thirds of the way to bottom edge. With scissors or X-acto knife, cut along line.

4. Repeat with wide piece of cardboard, this time marking centre on bottom edge and drawing line two-thirds of the way up.

5. Matching slots, slide pieces together to join. Tap lightly on flat surface to make even join. Fit into box.

Wrap a box with paper or fabric
1.
Measure height and width of box to determine length of paper. (Add height to width and multiply by 2; add 1 inch/ 2.5 cm overlap.)

2. Measure length of box.

3. Using scissors, cut desired paper slightly longer than and half the width of box. Using ruler and pencil, mark measurements on paper. Using desired scissors, cut just within line.

4. Mark centre of box's length with tiny pencil mark on bottom front edge. Mark centre of paper's length on wrong side of paper.

5. Centre box on paper by matching pencil marks. Fold paper up and around box, creasing lightly at folds. Remove paper and sharpen creases.

6. Wrap paper around box (gluing to bottom if desired). Fasten top with dab of glue or double-sided tape, or tie with ribbon.
