Using kids' art: dream pillows

Whether you use HP's ready-to-go iron-on transfers or scan your child's artwork into the computer and print it out on a transfer, you'll have sweet dreams on these pillows.

Materials:
Print your chosen design on standard transfer paper, such as HP Inkjet Iron-On T-Shirt Transfers #C6049A.
Note: For colour T-shirts you may want to use Dark Fabric Iron-on Transfers.

Warning! Do not use HP Iron-On T-Shirt Transfers with laser printers or with the HP DeskJet 1200C or HP DeskJet 1600C. The heating elements in these printers can melt the transfer paper, which could damage the printer. Non-HP transfer materials may cause damage to HP printers.

Tip: Use standard ink cartridges when printing your design. Photo and specialty inks are not recommended.

Instructions:

Getting ready to iron
Cut around the edges of your design, leaving 1/4-inch of white all the way around, including text.

Place your T-shirt, apron, bandana or other material on a smooth, hard, non-porous surface. Hint: Do not use glass or a padded ironing board. We suggest a Formica countertop or an old wooden table.

Let your iron heat up for 8 minutes before using. Set it on the highest dry setting -- no steam.

Place a pillowcase on the ironing surface for padding, and iron it to remove any wrinkles. Make sure the pillowcase and ironing surface are completely smooth.

Place the T-shirt, apron or other material on top of the pillowcase. Iron the area on the item where the transfer will be applied; avoid placing the transfer on seams.

Let the surface of the item cool before placing the transfer on top. Place the transfer with the image face down and the white side up.

Ironing your design
For best results, carefully follow the instructions included with the transfer paper.

Caring for your item
To make sure your designs remain vibrant, follow these instructions:

• Wash in cold water using a detergent with colour protection.
• Always turn the item inside out to wash it.
• Remove the item immediately after the wash is done.
• For best results, line dry.

Note: If the colours are bleeding, wash again in cold water until the excess ink disappears.
