Apples and cinnamon add cider flavour and spicy fragrance. Sip it straight or use for Apple Cider Cocktail.

Ingredients

1 cup (250 mL) dried apples, chopped
2 tbsp (25 mL) packed brown sugar
    6 whole cloves
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 bottle (750 mL) vodka

Preparation

In saucepan over medium-low heat, bring apples, sugar, cloves, cinnamon and 1/2 cup (125 mL) water to boil. Boil, stirring, until sugar is dissolved and no liquid remains, about 5 minutes. Let cool to room temperature.

Stir in vodka. Pour into jar; seal and steep in cool dark place for 1 to 2 weeks, shaking jar occasionally.

In double-thickness cheesecloth-lined sieve, strain liquid into pitcher; pressing out liquid. Seal in jar or bottle. (Make-ahead: Store in cool, dark place for up to 3 months.)
