Christmas cookies: Melting Snowman Cookies

It's that time of the year again, folks! As I write this post from our Canadian Living Test Kitchen office, the snow has started to fall – a true sign that winter is officially here. During the holiday season, I like to set time aside for a few fun seasonal projects, like making a batch of Christmas cookies. Perfect to make with kids on a weekend afternoon, these also happen to be delicious – especially alongside a mug of hot cocoa. • One cookie dough recipe (try our Double Vanilla Sugar Cookies recipe)
  • 10 oz (280 g) white chocolate coating wafers, melted (makes about 6 cookies)
  • Marshmallows
Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter (about 3-1/2 inch/9 cm in diameter). Bake and let completely cool. To make the snowman's head, cut a large marshmallow in half using kitchen shears. Secure to the cookie using a little bit of melted chocolate as your glue. Cover the rest of the cookie to resemble  melted snow. Now let your imagination run wild! I used mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups to make the snowman's hat and black licorice to make a scarf. Different kinds of coloured candy will help  form the eyes and nose. If your coating chocolate starts to clump, gently reheat using a double boiler.
