Graveyard Cupcakes

With Halloween just around the corner, what better way to celebrate than with Graveyard Cupcakes? With simple ingredients you can create a creepy graveyard, complete with headstones and bones. Before you begin to decorate, bake a batch of your favourite cupcakes and a batch of icing to coat. I used our favourite Easy Chocolate Cake recipe and made Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Icing to cover them, but any icing would do. Red velvet cupcakes would also be graveyard worthy. Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Icing 1/4 cup butter, softened 4 oz (115 g) cream cheese (about 1/2 pkg), softened 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter 2 cups icing sugar 3 tbsp whipping cream 1 tsp vanilla In bowl, beat butter and cream cheese until light; beat in peanut butter until smooth. Beat in icing sugar, ½ cup at a time. Beat in cream and vanilla until smooth. Generously spread icing over tops of cupcakes. Sprinkle or dip into chopped sandwich cookies. Gravestones and Bones Chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreo), finely chopped Pretzel sticks Mini marshmallows White chocolate coating wafers, melted Gravestone shaped cookies (such as Arrowroot and Dare Simple Pleasures) Dark chocolate coating wafers, melted Halloween candies Break pretzels to desired lengths, insert ends into marshmallows; dip in white chocolate. Dip cookies in dark chocolate. Use melted white chocolate to pipe outline and details.
