Last week I was invited to an insanely delicious lunch cooked by chef Warren Geraghty of West restaurant in Vancouver. The lunch was held at the beautiful room at The Fifth Restaurant in Toronto and was to celebrate the launch of the newly released The Cookbook West. Along with a number of Toronto's foodie types, I was treated to a five course, three hour lunch featuring the best of ingredients British Columbia's has to offer. Wine pairing of Okanagan's finest accompanied the meal, including my favourite Canadian wine, Quail's Gate Pinot Noir. Here is a picture of me and the Chef, I think my ruddy complexion reveals that I've been drinking my favourite wine! In addition to a great afternoon of eating and drinking I was able to get my hands on three copies of the West Cookbook. So that means more free gifts for my readers! This time I thought I would try something a little different. I'm going to post one of Geraghty's recipes from the cookbook and you will make it. Submit the picture of your final product to me along with any personal touches you've incorporated to the recipe, and the best three will get posted in my blog and will take home this gorgeous cookbook. Here is some inspiration to get you in a chef-y frame of mind. These are the dishes I enjoyed last week. Tain of Dungeness Crab and Couscous with Smoked Tomato Gazpacho. Seared Scallops with Butternut Squash Remoulade, devine BC Scallops! Supreme of Wild Salmon with Sesame-Scented Cabbage and Smoked Salmon Gnocchi. After this I was getting pretty full but then came along... Rump of Beef with Cromesquis of Oxtail and Fois Gras, Roasted Onions and Confit Portobello Mushrooms, totally stuffed at this point but ate it all anyway - this was the best dish of them all! Saffron Scented Pumpkin Panna Cotta with Ginger Cake and Orange Saffron Syrup, not that it wasn't delicious but I could only manage a few bites, wished I could have taken it home!
